Whitchurch Engineering’s Zach Johnson Earns Professional Engineer License

This is a press release from Whitchurch Engineering, Inc.:

Zach Johnson with Whitchurch Engineering, Inc. recently earned his California Professional Engineer (PE) license. Attaining this license is a complex process requiring years of study, experience, and testing.

Zach graduated from Humboldt State University with a degree in Environmental Resources Engineering in 2013 and has been employed by Whitchurch Engineering for 7 years.  Whitchurch Engineering is a Woman-Owned business, operated by Lisa and Leonard Whitchurch. Leonard said, “Zach has been a critical part of many outstanding projects, including decommissioning the Humboldt Bay Power Plant. He has taken the lead on many of our out of the area jobs ranging from Southern Oregon to the Bay Area. We value Zach’s technical proficiency as well as his ability to manage projects and collaborate with clients.”

Zach is the 14th Whitchurch Engineering employee to achieve licensing as a Professional Engineer since the company was founded in 1996.  Providing opportunities for skilled young professionals to grow and retaining that talent in Humboldt County are key priorities for Whitchurch Engineering who will celebrate 25 years in business in April of this year.  For more information visit their website, www.whitchurchengineering.com or find them on Facebook. Their offices are located on 9th Street in Fortuna and 716 Harris Street in Eureka.

Way to go Zach! What a great accomplishment!
I went to HSU with Zach and he’s as good a guy as he is talented. So glad to hear this news. Humboldt needs more like him.

For a woman owned business they clearly don’t care much about pushing for more representation in the engineering field. How many of the 14 employees that received their PE license are women? There isn’t a single female identifying engineer on their team. Feels like a joke saying it’s woman owned when the only woman who has a leadership role is the wife of the engineer that started the company. Congrats to Zach, he definitely earned this but shame on Whitchurch Engineering for trying to insert themselves into a space they don’t represent in their business.

Meg: If you have half as much determination and talent at becoming an engineer as you do judging other people; I guarantee they would give you the opportunity to change your researched statistics into something you would even approve of. Opportunities knock on doors. Be a door, don’t be a wall. They have built this company from nothing as a team. They deserved this recognition and so does Zack for all his hard work.
