Vaccine Task Force Member Lindsey Mendez Explains The Johnson & Johnson Vaccine, Says The County Is Looking For Spanish Speaking Assistants, Blue Shield Distributing Doses, And More

For this type of report, the Emergency Operations Center takes the questions from the media, and staff reads them on camera to officials for their response. The resulting video, called a Media Availability, is then provided to news outlets at the end of the day.

Here are some of the main points covered in the March 4th Media Availability session with a summary of answers from Family Nurse Practitioner and Humboldt County Vaccine Task Force member Lindsey Mendez, followed by questions we would have liked to ask in response if appropriate.

EOC:  Thank you for joining us for the March 4th Media Availability with Family Nurse Practitioner and Humboldt County Vaccine Task Force member Lindsey Mendez.

Lindsey is going to begin by explaining the characteristics of the Janssen, or Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

FNP Lindsey Mendez:

Hello, thank you.  Hi, Humboldt County, again my name is Lindsey Mendez and I’m here to introduce the Janssen vaccine to you today, or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.  In December, I had the great privilege with Diane Pacora to introduce the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine to you and I would like to tell you a little bit about the differences between the mRNA vaccines and the new  DNA vaccine that’s coming from Janssen.

Just so everybody has less confusion, Johnson & Johnson is the company and Janssen was another part of the company that supported and sponsored the vaccine and that’s why it’s named that way.

So as we know we have two vaccines that are mRNA vaccines we have the Pfizer vaccine and the Moderna vaccine which we’ve been giving since December. Now we are going to be very excited to start a single-dose vaccine which is a DNA vaccine and this is going to be a one shot in your arm vaccine with an efficacy rate that will build over a longer period of time as opposed to needing two shots.

So, this DNA vaccine, your immunity is going to be building over the course of two weeks and then a month, and also I would  like to review what that means for it to be an adenovirus vector DNA vaccine. So what this  is is that as opposed to having the mRNA which we talked about before where you get an injection of the mRNA for a spike protein for the COVID-19 virus and then it going into your cells and allows you to create immunity to that spike protein.

Now this is a little bit different, we are going to be getting a shot that laboratory members have engineered to be using a virus an adenovirus which would usually just give you a common cold and then it carries the DNA for the COVID-19 spike protein, and then in your own cell in the nucleus you then are creating the information from the DNA to be immune to COVID-19 so even though it’s a little bit different, it’s pretty similar in a way that it’s going to work for us.

And as I said before, the good news is that this is a one-shot vaccine so we will be distributing it throughout the county very soon as it will most likely be appearing in the next week.

2 mins 45 secs in:

Question by North Coast News:  Has public health run into the situation where people are refusing to take one specific version of the vaccine?

For example, someone shows up to their appointment and says they will only take the Moderna vaccine. What is the frequency with which this happens?

Answer by FNP Mendez:

I’m not sure the frequency in which this happens but as a member of the task force, I do know that it has happened enough times that we are aware that people do have preferences but the great news is that every vaccine available has excellent efficacy and that any vaccine that you desire will give you a good protection against COVID-19.

It is the choice of the individual if they would  like Pfizer, Moderna or the Johnson & Johnson and as we’re aware many people are very excited about having all three options.

3 mins 35 sec in:

Question by North Coast News:  With vaccination rates increasing in Humboldt, when does the county expect to see a drop in coronavirus cases due to a large amount of people being vaccinated?

Answer by FNP Mendez:

This is an excellent question and as we move forward we will be having a better understanding about the herd immunity of our county as we continue to vaccinate first and second doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine and also starting with the Johnson & Johnson.

What we do know is that this is going to take months of time, throughout the spring and the summer and getting into the fall to get everybody fully vaccinated in our county, and also in the state of California to end the pandemic and we would ask that everybody continues to socially distance and wash their hands and mask as we get to this safe level.

4 mins 15 sec in:

Question by Redheaded Blackbelt:  How helpful is it for a rural county like Humboldt to have access to this single-dose vaccine?

Answer by FNP Mendez:

I think it’s extremely helpful for any place to have access to a single-dose vaccine but especially in rural areas where people have issues with transportation, sometimes they have issues with technology of not being able to use wi-fi perhaps, they can’t get to their second dose appointment this is a very important thing for people with equity in a rural area.

4 mins 45 sec in:

Question by Redheaded Blackbelt:  With the addition of the J&J vaccine, how will the timeline of vaccine distribution locally change, if any?

Answer by FNP Mendez:

Well we do not know if it will change, if any, but what we can tell you is that with an extra vaccine that we’re having it tells us that we will have more vaccine of a different kind coming to the county and this will inevitably help vaccinate more people.

5 mins 15 sec in:

Question by Redheaded Blackbelt:  Would the J&J vaccine be better suited for any particular demographic due to its (so far) unique qualities of being not only single dose, but also considered 100% effective at preventing hospitalizations and deaths, and if so, who would that be?

Answer by FNP Mendez:

The CDC has made numerous suggestions about how the Johnson & Johnson vaccine can be utilized.  Some of these suggestions include mobile health clinics, primary care offices and clinics that work with people who are often traveling.

5 mins 45 sec in:

Question by The Times-Standard: How is the county focusing its outreach to the Spanish speaking population as the vaccine continues to be rolled out?

Have there been any difficulties in reaching the Latinx community?

Answer by FNP Mendez:

I’m very glad that we have the time to talk about this question today and that it was brought up. Communication is a challenge for many communities especially if  there’s any language barrier and we are aware that in the pandemic this has not gotten any easier.

With that said the Public Health department and the EOC are actively recruiting staff and volunteers to help us with our vaccination clinics for Spanish interpreters anyone who is willing to come forward as a bilingual speaker and ranging from intake to administration to vaccinators, this would be very helpful.

The Public Health department is also engaging in listening sessions with this community, it is our highest priority that we understand the needs and desires of the Latinx community at this time.

6 mins 45 sec in:

Question by The Times-Standard:  Has the county received any Johnson & Johnson vaccine doses?

If not, when will the county begin receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine?

Answer by FNP Mendez:

The county has not received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the freezer or refrigerator at this time, but we have been allocated vaccine from the state and we will be getting updates about when we will be receiving this.

 7 mins 5 sec in:

Question by The Times-Standard: Considering it is a one dose formula, Will the Johnson & Johnson vaccine be given priority for remote areas and people who have trouble making appointments?

Answer by FNP Mendez:

At this time we do not know how the state allocation system will be prioritizing the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. What we do know is that as we move with the state plan changing to Blue Shield of California taking over the allocation process, they will be working hard to ensure equity and that the Johnson & Johnson is used appropriately.

7 mins 30 sec in:

Question by The Times-Standard: Will Humboldt County be receiving any of the vaccines allocated by the state for lower income regions?

Answer by FNP Mendez:

At this time again we do not know the answer to that question, and we are waiting for the state  to give us more information.

7 mins 50 sec in:

Question by The Times-Standard: Is there any data being collected on regional vaccine efficacy?

Answer by FNP Mendez:

The data that’s collected by the local public health departments is not data that will be necessarily telling us about the regional vaccine efficacy, these kinds of trials and studies are done by the pharmaceutical companies who run the drug trials themselves, and so at this time we are submitting data using our tracking through what is called VAERS and CAIR which are abbreviations for the state systems where we document vaccine and  demographics.

Community members with questions or concerns are encouraged to call 441-5000 for additional information.

Now unapproved DNA “vaccines”?

I don’t believe I mentioned “new”.

That being said, can you name another “vaccine” that uses this “older” technology?

Maybe you are referring to the fact that it is considered an adrenovirus vaccine?

They’ve been around for a bit. The DNA to MRNA thingy is very new.

Speaking of being around a bit: Who makes this vaccine? Who makes the Astra-zeneca vaccine? How about Lenzilumab? And more.

Emergent BioSolutions. (aka Bioport)

Why should you care? Remember the failed Antrax vaccine experiment done on u.s troops in Iraq? Something like 25k deaths? A good friend of mine being one of them.

Same company. I’m sure they’ve cleaned up their act though.

It just happens to be a stones-throw from Ft Detrick but that is no-doubt just another coincidence.

There is nothing wrong with Spanish speaking people. There is everything wrong with what’s going on at the border.

Why shouldn’t our policies help people live in their own countries in safety, with their families and the country they love?

The real problem is the cartels the have more money and bigger guns than the police, just like the policy the Dems are creating here.
The people have no defense, so they flee into the arms of the cartels to come here.
That makes both them and us victims.

Secure our border and help the people where they are.
The cartels are killing people on both sides of the border, here with drugs from China and South of the border.

As long as Americans want to purchase cheap crap made with semi slave labor in 3rd world countries, the people in those contries will want to come here for a better life. People who do not want those people to cross our borders should be insisting that EVERYONE employed by a US company, or making goods for the US market, pay their employees a living wage, regardless of where on this planet they live. (Of course Americans should be paid a living wage as well, not the federal minimum of $7.25)

And most of those weapons are guns that were sent to our allies in the Middle East and South America through government channels, not bought at gun stores in America and then took back over the Border. There aren’t many gun shops in America where you can purchase fully automatic M16, AK-47, grenades, shoulder fire rocket etc.. Despite popular belief, it is illegal to manufacture or sell such weapons without a federal license.

Absolutely nothing is wrong with people that speak Spanish or any other language. The problem occurs when they move to a country with no standard language and have a hard time communicating with others. All kinds of problems including the ability to access basic services ,Genocide and War has resulted from lack of communication in the past. This is why most countries require a standard form of communication to become a citizen. It has nothing to do with racism…

This has all been a huge bunch of lies and it needs to come to an end already. Nobody is buying this crap anymore and if they are they will fall for anything. Everybody pretty much knows there not vaccines and now there even admitting it. People are dying in millions by suicide and drugs and alcohol because of this. Thats what they want tho right. Depopulate us so the rich can have it all. What a huge joke on us.

“The county has not received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in the freezer or refrigerator at this time, but we have been allocated vaccine from the state and we will be getting updates about when we will be receiving this”

So there is currently no schedule for when Humboldt gets the new vaccine, how much we will get, and when people will actually start getting vaccinated with it.

We live in an age of language devaluation. “Hero” has become someone who either risks their lives to save others like a fireman or a person who reports a fire when they see one. A “racist” has become someone who holds their own race superiority or someone who objects to being targeted for theirs. We have renamed whole ideas in order to try to outrun negatives- for example what used to be a hobo became a transient then homeless and now that has been softened into “experiencing homelessness”. Crippled became “Handicapped” became “disabled” then ” otherwise abled.” Wetback to illegal immigrant to undocumented immigrant to ? Probably “experiencing location bureaucracy.” There’s a hunger for fixing a word when the problem becomes, well, a problem. IE drawback, difficulty, obstacle…

56 years ago Paul Harvey told us….Quote

Paul Harvey’s “If I were the Devil” Transcript 1965

If I were the Devil

“If I were the devil … If I were the Prince of Darkness, I’d want to engulf the whole world in darkness. And I’d have a third of it’s real estate, and four-fifths of its population, but I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree — Thee. So I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States. I’d subvert the churches first — I’d begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: ‘Do as you please.’

“To the young, I would whisper that ‘The Bible is a myth.’ I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would confide that what’s bad is good, and what’s good is ‘square.’ And the old, I would teach to pray, after me, ‘Our Father, which art in Washington…’

“And then I’d get organized. I’d educate authors in how to make lurid literature exciting, so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d pedal narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.

“If I were the devil I’d soon have families that war with themselves, churches at war with themselves, and nations at war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed. And with promises of higher ratings I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flames. If I were the devil I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions — just let those run wild, until before you knew it, you’d have to have drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.

“Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing, I’d have judges promoting pornography — soon I could evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, and then from the houses of Congress. And in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion, and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls, and church money. If I were the devil I’d make the symbols of Easter an egg and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.

“If I were the devil I’d take from those who have, and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. And what do you bet? I couldn’t get whole states to promote gambling as thee way to get rich? I would caution against extremes and hard work, in Patriotism, in moral conduct. I would convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging is more fun, that what you see on TV is the way to be. And thus I could undress you in public, and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure. In other words, if I were the devil I’d just keep right on doing on what he’s doing. Paul Harvey, good day.”

– Paul Harvey 1965

End Quote… and no I’m not promoting any religion. Just uncommon sense of days gone by.

PS, Watch out for the “and deify science” part.

Reading the comments here (and elsewhere) on COVID is truly depressing. It’s difficult to fathom how so many people could be so un-informed, mis-informed, or just downright obtuse in a society that claims to be among the most educated in the world.

This isn’t a grand conspiracy to take away your rights, alter your genetics, turn your kids autistic, or put you in a FEMA camp. It’s a fucking virus transmitted through the air between people. While it’s relatively harmless to a lot of people, it causes serious illness, long-term effects, and even death among a significant proportion of the population. Enough so that special precautions are clearly warranted to limit the damage. Like wearing a mask, keeping your distance, avoiding crowds, especially indoor crowds. And taking advantage of a vaccine if you choose to.

That’s all it is. A simple pandemic. One that was predicted to occur decades ago and will re-occur in the future because of how humans behave and our refusal to learn from mistakes.

Why be depressed? No One has asked you not to do any of the things listed in your post.
Assuming those all work you should be fine. Double masked, gloved and 6 feet away, indoors away from crowds and jabbed.

Unless of course you happen to be the one so un-informed, mis-informed and wrongly educated. Colleges sure have turned out an abundance of snobs.

We Neanderthals became mis- informed by listening and paying attention to history the last 50 years, before cancel culture started obliterating it.

I decline responsibility for your depression.
And I won’t blame you for my feelings or choices.

Just a scientific note; Ms Mendez states that the adenovirus carries DNA into the nucleus of my cells and there creates spike protein. This is inaccurate. The ribosomes that read this genetic code and translate it into spike protein reside in the cytoplasm not the nucleus. This is important as there are a whole bunch of conspiracy theories out there that say these vaccines will alter your DNA (which is only in the nucleus and a small bit in your Mitochondria). They will not.

If you want to focus on that aspect , you are welcome to. If you would like to recognize that you are the only person responsible for your actions, you are welcome to as well. There are far too many aspects of this, rushed to market, with little to no animal trials, not to mention that no one but yourself is to blame if you have an adverse event due to any of life’s dangerous choices, not just taking an experimental medicine, looking to tackle the dozens and dozens variants of covid out there. Point being, you have the choice and all the responsibility for your choices, just recognize your complete lack of authority and more importantly , any responsibility what so ever, for anyone who takes your advice and feels they are immune from death by your recommendation.

These people are fucking brilliant at warfare and propaganda. The open secret for the past 100 years, minimum, at those in positions of influence and authority to create well paved roads to wealth and power. When they set their minds to something they can do just about anything they want, including killing you and making it look like an accident.

Common sense left our country long ago. Too much to think for myself, please government, tell me that there’s little to not risk! That I would be protecting myself, and herd protect everyone else yet $4 billion paid out to vaccine injury court. Cool with me. Until someone I care about is affected. Seems worth it, even if I die, at least you’ll be safe.
Maybe I should have read the vaccine insert, these headaches and seizures couldn’t possibly be from the vaccine!

The most racially discriminated people.
The Americans who have been through all of the worst struggles. Nah, your too worried about any one who doesn’t love the president of your liking. Who gave small pox blankets to Natives? Same people who gave you covid. Yet you fight your neighbors, friends and community members. Because your scared, you don’t want to warrior up. You don’t want to be segregated.
You don’t want to be treated like the people you look down on.

Lie about the number of dead because it would interfere with his Emmy and books sales. CNN gives him an hour to lie to you everyday for months.

Why shove swaps up you nose instead of a mouth swap if you can spread it by mouth you should be able to find it there in a test, right?
After 1 year of this 44 deaths in Mendocino County.

Kamala tried to crucify Kavanaugh but not a word on Cuomo’s victims.
Fair and honest people don’t play these games.
Anything goes for Power and money.

These people want to stay in power, no matter what and if they have to sacrifice you in the process, no problem.

The only one covering your butt is you.

I thought herd immunity was not an effective defense against this virus? This is probably one of the biggest problems with Americans accepting any kind of “facts” with this virus. Thats the fact that the media and the professionals change their opinions and their recommendations almost on a weekly basis, generally completely countedicting their first opinions. They also keep claiming that the science is settled, even though new studies are coming out on a weekly basis, many that counterdic the “settled science” from the previous mouths. Most of these studies are completely ignored and when you sight said studies you are called a neanderthal, science denier.
So what’s it to be. Our we to rely on the scientific data collected from doctors around the world, or are we to rely on the opinions of just a handful of doctors that haven’t seen a patient for over 30 years?

Very good question Reprisal.

…Which likely requires critical thinking.

“Critical thinking, as we’re taught to do it, isn’t helping in the fight against misinformation.”

It also tell us “Don’t go down the rabbit hole”.

Now why would they say that? Too many are on to this genocidal scam?
