Humboldt County Correctional Deputy Arrested for Smuggling Drugs Into Jail

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Ricardo Tranquilino Aguirre

Ricardo Tranquilino Aguirre

In February of 2021, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received information that a correctional deputy was involved in the smuggling of contraband into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on behalf of inmates. The Humboldt County Drug Task Force (DTF) was assigned to investigate. A month-long DTF investigation revealed that Ricardo Tranquilino Aguirre, 27, of Eureka, CA, was the involved deputy.

On March 2, 2021, at about 5:30 p.m., Aguirre was taken into custody inside the Correctional Facility for being in possession of a controlled substance while armed (HS 11370.1(a)), smuggling contraband into a jail (PC 4573), possession of a controlled substance for sales (HS 11351) and transportation/sale of a controlled substance (HS 11352(a)).

Aguirre has been a correctional deputy with the Sheriff’s Office since September 2019 and has resigned from his position as of today. Since his arrest, further evidence was discovered that Aguirre had been smuggling drugs into the facility for the past several months and he had acted alone. The investigation is being referred to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

“Correctional Deputies are hired to protect and serve those that are in the care and custody of the Correctional Facility. As members of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office we hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards of conduct,” Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal said. “Ricardo Aguirre’s criminal and disgraceful conduct is the antithesis of the professional standards, ethics and organizational values of the Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Aguirre’s actions do not represent the principles that are the foundation of our organization. He will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and I will be working with the District Attorney to ensure this case is fully prosecuted.”

Sheriff Honsal would like to thank the Humboldt County Drug Task Force, the Eureka Police Department’s Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team, and the Drug Enforcement Administration for their support during this investigation.

No need to comment. Nothing to add, the story sells itself. What I could have said is, congrats this shows the entire lifecycle of heroin from its origin in Mexico to its grand end of the line distributor. But, I won’t.

Mendocino Sheriff Matt Kendall. When are you going to clean out the CO’s smuggling drugs into the Mendocino County Jail?

And the word of an officer is held higher than the word of a normal citizen in a court of law. There word wins every time. As if they never lie. But there trained to lie and be deceitful. Doesn’t seem right there word is worth more. How is the legal system fair with this happening.

On behalf of the convicts, we thank you for your services. It’s unfortunate it didn’t last longer we are currently looking for a new deputy to fill in his position and are hopping for someone who can handle the pressure of the job, a man who holds himself to higher standard of POS. We are looking for someone who takes pride in what we do. Drugs.

The DA better go through and throw out every conviction of every criminal this ex deputy has ever arrested. His word cannot be trusted anymore.

They can still report inmates for violations that didn’t happen, etc. Guests still has a point; the DA (or someone, clearly the sheriff shouldn’t be the one in this instance) should go through to check if this dude affected the disciplinary record of any inmate. Just because they only work with inmates doesn’t mean they don’t have the power to use the criminal justice system against them.

I wonder if he went through his six-month post-training and had the intent to do this all along? The correctional deputies are required to complete a six-month post training. In that time they can learn lots of great stuff. Like this gem in the CA DOJ report writing manual. List of words commonly used in reports…” the difference between here (for something to be placed here) and hear (to hear something like a sound)…among other elementary definitions. Sigh…

Meanwhile… quote

According to Wall Street Journal, “U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported taking 5,707 unaccompanied children into custody in January, an 18% rise from the previous month. The growing number of children in custody is beginning to strain the government’s ability to properly house and care for them.”

End quote

Who’s watching where they are going and who they are going to?
I have a hard time believing they are going to fine foster homes
Or being reunited with their parents.
And when is Joe going to actually answer some questions?

What did it have to do with anything for the last 4 years? So biden imprisons more children in a month that trump separated from their family’s at the border in 4 years. As I’ve said if you support Biden you’re a racist. You just support a racist who doesn’t tweet stupid things every 5 minutes. I love it when things come full circle.

Actions speak louder than words. And words are irrelevant when you lock up over 5,000 children in a month. Also detaining children longer than the law allows and housing 2 to 3 times the children that the facility’s were designed for. So yup.

All the sudden the Trump fans are concerned about the children? Didn’t hear you speaking up for them last 4 years and now you’re concerned.

Yes Biden is locking up children and is as lame as your hero Trump. I’d love to see the liberals and the media outraged like they were when Trump locked up the kids, but I’m not holding my breath.

Not my hero. I just like pointing out hypocrites. I’ve been consistent, I didn’t really care about migrant children under trump and I don’t care now. But that’s not my point is it? After let’s say 100 days if Biden doesn’t correct this, which he won’t, but if the same people aren’t morally outraged by it then those people are self serving Douche bags that only care about themselves and their agenda and as such they should be treated as the joke that they are. But until then I’m going to keep ranting just like they did, because I find it amusing that they think one politician is different than another. To reiterate, Biden’s a racist and if you support him you are too.

Point on Mr. Businessman You can’t dress like I do. It’s 2021 ,do whatever you want just do it politicly correct. Your damned if you do damned if you don’t. Just child prisoners in a different and more hideous facility.
While a POTUS by a different name plays a more dangerous game.
Do you think Covid and drugs and children are being passed around at the border?

I do and I think it’s just as important.
But you know, out of sight out of mind.

Try this, if we’re going to be concerned about one officer who most likely got his drugs from someone south of the border maybe we can also be concerned about the 17,000 expected unaccompanied children expected to arrive. Who brought them?
Were they used to bring drugs in?
After all they were a main priority to complain about the last 5 years.
Sorry if I didn’t conveniently forget.
And it’s not like there will be a thread discussing it.

Im willing to bet he either shorted or totally ripped off an inmate or their outside contact who got pissed and told on him and that got the investigation rolling, or his co workers thought not so highly of him for whatever reason. Either way you play stupid games, you “win” stupid prizes.

When a prison gets infested with drugs there’s a poor ole pidgin with dope taped to his leg for an excuse.
Drugs are everywhere in prison and that poor ole pidgin didn’t fly them in. When you eliminate the possibility’s, only one stands out

At least 10 people this month were let go without bail for selling heroine and meth. At same I think this cop should go to jail for at least 10 years. Screw him !

So this reads they didn’t fire him. They reassigned him. So this means they gave him another JOB? Sounds like its time to tell the sheriffs department in Humboldt to go Screw themselves. You are as crooked as the scum you catch and release.

What a shitty place to be high on dope. Coming down off of crank in a concrete box to the realization you will not be leaving. I wonder how much meth you can buy with a handful of jolly ranchers or a bag of Doritos.

30 years ago I did some time down in Tennessee and found out that half of the guards we’re on our side and the other half didn’t know there were two sides. One day I asked the sergeant in charge why? He said these boys suffer enough the way it is if I can help make it a little easier for them I’m going to do that. I think there was also something to it regarding the fact they weren’t paid very well. So for the right amount of money you can get just about anything you wanted, in a place that was still running chain gangs.. now that same sergeant that was running the drug operation also ran the church in that facility. But I know for a fact this man was not a hypocrite.
