Humboldt Progressive Democrats Say Their Progressive Slate Sweeps Democratic Party Elections

Humboldt Progressive Democrats ClubPress release from the Humboldt Progressive Democrats:

Newly-elected Democratic Party delegates are celebrating their Progressive Labor slate win in California’s Second Assembly District (AD2), which includes Del Norte, Humboldt, Trinity, Mendocino, and northern Sonoma counties. All 13 slate candidates easily cruised to victory over challenges from the opposing establishment slate and others. Although results are still being tabulated in some districts, there is little doubt the AD2 results will be certified this month. Congratulations to Sarah Brooks, Robilyn Camacho, Jerry Eaton, Ever Flores-Deras, David Frank, Pete Loetterle, Lisa Maldonado, Geoffrey Robinson, Mary Lynn Rounds, Cheryl Seidner, Kellie Shaner, Liza Welsh, and Joe Louis Wildman.

Due to COVID, the 2021 District Election Meetings (ADEMs) were entirely Vote-by-Mail instead of the usual caucuses in locations throughout the state. Democrats registered online to request ballots which then had to be mailed back and received by the deadline. Several problems, including ballots not being received and technical glitches, caused deadlines to be extended. A record breaking number of ballots were requested – nearly 170,000 statewide and 1,176 in AD2 alone. The spike in participation was at least partly due to a number of organizations registering members without their knowledge or permission. The Party also refused to provide candidates with ADEM voter lists, making campaigning extremely difficult.

“In spite of these challenges, and the uncertainty of an entirely new system, everyone worked throughout our vast District to maintain our place at the table. It’s a tremendous success for grassroots activists,” said Helene Rouvier, slate volunteer. “This is absolutely the peoples’ win. The organizing effort and outreach was incredible. A lot was on the line, and everyone knew it.”

This latest win means Progressives will continue to build their influence in the region’s Democratic politics. In addition to taking 13 of 14 seats in AD2, Progressives also won significant victories in adjacent Assembly Districts 1, 3, 4, and 10. One-third of the delegates to the California Democratic Party are elected through this process. The rest are appointed by party officials or elected by the County Central Committees.

“The stakes couldn’t be higher” said Rouvier. “The upcoming State Party Convention will be electing officers and regional directors, the very people who will steer the course of the Party at a crucial time for our political future. The Party has frankly failed us in California – in the November general election, California accounted for 4 of the 12 Democratic Congressional seats lost nationally, and the state ballot results were a train wreck for Democratic values.”

These grassroots delegates are YOUR representatives to the California Democratic Party – committed to listen and fight for your issues, ideas, priorities, needs. Please check out the AD2 Facebook page www.facebook.com/VoteAD2 and stay tuned for upcoming forums and town halls and well as news and updates from inside the Party. “The only way we make progress on issues of equality and justice is for those of us who believe in progress to work for it. I am honored to join this Progressive Labor slate in representing northwest California and helping to move the California Democratic Party in a more progressive direction. Thank you to all the voters who requested ballots and supported our efforts.” –

Progressive regress society. They are failures. They help no one but themselves and their corporate donors. They tax us into poverty, and cause children to go hungry. Texas, and Florida, are conservative and republican. Lower fuel prices , food prices, lower housing costs. Calif causes children to suffer. Texas and Florida do not. You progressives hurt people. We are teaching children all over the country, and here on the north coast, how awful you are when it comes to govt. They learn how inept democrats are, and how much they lie. Newsome is out soon, they know why he is being recalled. Get out of our area, go to China where you belong. But, maybe not take any Blacks or Muslims or gays or christians with you, the Chinese persecute all these groups. Our kids learn this every day. Not much difference between a progressive and a communist Chinese.

…uh…You know what just happened to power bills in Texas, among those who still had power during the freeze?

Of course he does. But that wouldn’t fit his narrative of Republicans good – Democrats bad.

These folks now get to go to conventions, to debate the issues and sort through candidates for endorsements. Good luck, and thanks for staying so interested in supporting a democratic system.

Yeah. 2/3 of the delegates are appointed by party officials or elected by the County Central Committees. So …that’s how you keep it in line. Do not be looking to the DEMs for anything much “progressive”. They are pushing back against the people in favor of their biggest donors every day. Business as usual despite whatever you read in articles like this…

If we could remove doners, lobbyists and religion from politics altogether maybe, just maybe politicians would actually represent their constituents in a meaningful way.

I guess that’s true, as long as their constituents don’t have any money, interests, or faith. Otherwise they will just have to represent their constituents.

But it reads better than the group that attack to Capital. Their approach is shoot first and then ask if it was the Right thing to do. Extremes never seem motivated to meet in the middle.

The only people that shot at anything during that extremist event were the police. And this is the result of the Courage of Congress to facilitate “meeting in the middle.”

They are going to get so much $$ in bribes – or a very sharp stick. Their choice. Either way, the status quo is preserved even while presenting the appearance of change. Win-win.

The buyoff of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the big lesson here. The Dems will keep building the identitarian superstructure to their neoliberal foundation and keep everyone in their power structure within their screw-working-people consensus.

California is the 5th largest economy in the world. Agriculture, including logging and mining contributes a whopping 2% to the total product. If the “State of Jefferson” split off it would be a blip on the radar. As it is we in the “blue”counties are carrying the ‘”red” counties with our taxes. There is a reason trump lost this state by 5 million votes. We don’t drink his stinking
red neck koolaid.

The whole “5th largest economy” is pretty tired. California is part of the USA, not it’s own economy. Some Californians may think their shit doesn’t stink, but they are probably just smell blind from the Covid.

Here is the opening paragraph from the ADEM page- “The California Democratic Party Bylaws (Article VI) provide that an Assembly District Election Meetings (ADEMS) be held in each of the 80 California Assembly Districts in January of each odd-numbered year to elect 7 “self-identified female” and 7 “other than self-identified female” to be Assembly District Delegates (ADDs) to represent the Assembly District they are registered in. These elections are open to all California Democrats.” Just so you understand what equality means to the California Democrats.

I hate to say it, but I am having fun watching California burn with these buffoons at the helm. Funny how their idea of ‘progress’ is never to make California a safer place, or to have us pay less taxes, or to bring the cost of living down for the middle class. Enjoy your progress!

“…California accounted for 4 of the 12 Democratic Congressional seats lost nationally, and the state ballot results were a train wreck for Democratic values.”

So double down on what alienates people the most. Don’t ask why people are turned off, or how you might be out of touch. Just call anyone who disagrees racist, sexist, *phobic, etc.

Its always hilarious to see how these districts continue to move to the left as their constituents continue to be poor white conservatives. I wonder how it is that an area full of conservatives can never win an election?……Probably the same reason the people who stormed the capital to over turn a stolen election were found to not have voted in said election. Pretty funny how many people bitch but don’t even do bare minimum.
