A 5-Year-Old and a Woman Are Reported to Have Been Sprayed With Bear Mace in the Samoa Area West of Eureka

Ambulance Requested

Just after 11 a.m., an emergency dispatcher sent the Samoa Fire Department and ambulance as well as Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies to Samoa west of Eureka after a woman reported that she and her 5-year-old were sprayed with bear mace by a neighbor. The woman also accused the neighbor of pointing a firearm at her.

Samantha Karges, spokesperson for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, said that one person has been detained.

She could not confirm that anyone was sprayed but did say, “Medical is on scene evaluating the reporting party…Our deputies are on scene sorting it out.”

At least it was bear mace. It’s not as strong as the people spray. Better spray pattern though

No problem there. After all, the police say it’s perfectly ok to pepper spray kids in the face.

The press release doesn’t say anything about going to the neighbor’s house for a confrontation. Could be that the neighbor came to the victim’s house uninvited for whatever reason.
