33rd Death of COVID in Humboldt County; 12 New Cases Reported

Red tier covidPress release from Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

A 33rd Humboldt County resident has died with COVID-19, and 12 new cases of the virus were reported today. The total number of county residents who have tested positive now stands at 3,136.

The person who died was in their 80s. Humboldt County Public Health and Emergency Operations Center staff extend their condolences to the community member’s friends and family.

The California Department of Public Health is releasing updates to its Places of Worship guidance following recent judicial rulings that allow indoor services with limited capacity. Humboldt County was reassigned today to the “Red” or Substantial tier under the state’s “Blueprint for a Safer Economy.” Indoor capacity at Places of Worship remains at 25%.

The updated guidance focuses on safety measures for singing, chanting, playing wind instruments or engaging in similar indoor activities at Places of Worship. Under the Red tier, those include:

Face coverings are worn at all times.
Physical distance from spectators, congregants and other performers is maintained at all times.
Performers count toward the capacity limit.
A negative PCR test 72 hours prior to the service is strongly encouraged.
Ventilation is improved to the extent possible.
For recorded performances intended for later use at a service or ceremony, performers may sing, chant or play wind instruments without a face covering if the following conditions are met:

Each performer has taken a PCR test and gotten a negative result 72 hours prior to the recording session.
All performers maintain 6 feet of distance.
Anyone else involved in the recording (i.e. videographer) wears face coverings at all times.
Please note this guidance also applies to cultural ceremonies, including weddings and funerals, but does not extend to restaurants or other business sectors.

The CDPH website states the full guidance is “in the process of being updated.” To read current guidance for all tiers, go to covid19.ca.gov/industry-guidance/#worship and click on “Places of worship and cultural ceremonies.”

Under 2000 deaths a day, what did the other 6000 die from? Zero coverage on the majority of deaths in this nation.

Based on your numbers 2k would be 25%. 6000+2000=8000. 2000/8000 = 25% of the total.

33 / 3136 dead to testing positive which means FAR MORE THAN 3136 have had COVID b/c not everyone is tested. Odds are in your favor. The survival rate of the infected is very high 90’s % but the news isn’t showing that.

“Obsessive covid commenters, start your engines!”

Indeed! Comment on how lockdowns save lives (with ZERO evidence), ignore evidence against lockdowns by claiming said evidence is “right wing” or “conspiracy”, blindly post links to the CDC and WHO ( better yet Wikipedia) despite their laughable record and allegiance to China, snitch on your neighbors and ride around town like a fucking moron, outdoors, on a bicycle, with a mask on!

Just went to a business in Fortuna and none of the employees were wearing face masks. The boss said face masks were optional. If there is an outbreak and they are defying the state mandate are they liable?

Entitlement? Is that just the new popular word nowadays? What if every employees there has already had covid and has antibodies? I know one business where that’s the case. Or they are vaccinated? Do you still require them to double mask then? Kinda seems like you’d be the science denier or entitled one then.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services has set-up a COVID-19 compliance tip line. The phone number is 707-441-3022.
This line is for reporting either people or businesses that are not complying with the shelter-in-place order, officials said. People have the option to leave information anonymously. OES staff will follow up on all information received. Callers do not need to leave their name or callback number unless they want a return phone call. All information is kept confidential, according to officials.

I’m with the Rover on this one. I’m fine with wearing a mask, but the whole reporting businesses thing is just pissing up a rope. just go to a different (saw shop)! Walking in to a store, with your mask on is unlikely to give you covid unless the stars are really aligned against you, and you pick your nose the minute you exit. Take care of your own PPE. Notice how the comments react. Taking a Hard Line can backfire sometimes; reporting businesses comes off as authoritarian, and won’t affect covid cases much, unless it’s an assisted living center, or some ultra high volume food prep joint.

This is my second pandemic. The first killed a lot of my friends and even family. It’s amazing how many of them were lied to by others about not being infected and ended up getting infected and dying. People would say oh yeah I’m careful and they kept giving the virus to others some knowing they were infected. Knowing when someone else is not being careful or infected is how I and those friends still alive survived everyone else.

So…just don’t go to that business. You see…it is THEIR business, not YOUR business. And if you go into THEIR business and they require masks then wear your mask- even if you don’t want to! See how easy this is? Except- OH!- You first have to stop thinking you own everybody and everything because YOU are scared…yeah, you do not own every business just because you walk into it

Thank god for the proud and brave store owner defying the mask mandate. I will shop there immediately! What store in Fortuna doesn’t require masks?

None of us have to wear masks in stores. We can tell the employees that we have a medical exemption. The employees are not allowed to ask about our medical issues. We have the right not to show a medical note or card. The store cannot refuse us service due to our medical impairment.

Masks do not stop viruses. Fauci said that masks stop droplets, not viruses, and that there is no reason to wear a mask in an outbreak. I will never wear a mask. I want to shop at stores where I am free of the illegitimate and treasonous Joe Biden.

No one should wear masks. Mask do not work. Masks can not stop virus particles, as admitted by Fauci and countless doctors. Masks cause cross contamination by putting a dirty cloth on one’s mouth for 8 hours a day. Masks cause us to breath in our own emissions, which is shown to cause bacterial pneumonia. Masks stop droplets, not viruses. I will never wear a mask.

My conspiracy friends have drifted from so many angles over the last year that it’s been hard to keep up.

First it was a serious virus and I should be more careful. We didn’t visit each other for half a year because they later thought it was a mind control virus. Then it shifted to hoax that was just a flu, and masks were stupid.

Now they are offended by words like conspiracies. They bought MAGA hats, yet frown on the word Trumpers.

Very sad to see something like this take over their lives and replace the things that once brought them joy. Being fixated on covid seems to be more harmful than actually catching the virus.

Where are you getting the 10 years? The average age of death from/with covid is in excess of the average human lifespan. Assuming each of the people who died from/with covid would have lived another 10 years seems like and arbitrary guess.

Kym,

I’m pretty sure we have gone through this before.

6% of those deaths were “from” covid alone. The rest, you , I the w.h.o or cdc don’t really know the exact, true cause.

But it does pay $$ to list the cause as a “covid death”. Flu or pneumonia does not. Simple business.

You are grasping for anything to back up your beliefs. That’s ok. But it requires very little “work” when the msm feeds it to you 24/7.

Frankly I don’t know why you get so angry with people who think differently. No one is saying they should die. No one said your grandmother should die. They are saying that curtailing everyone else’s lives to protect a life at serious risk at its end is not a value they share. I remember a Rumpole of the Bailey episode when Rumpole is advised to give up drinking to preserve his health and he responds that there was no pleasure so small it was worth giving up to get two more years spent in an nursing home. That was the character’s excuse to continue his self indulgence. It was his choice. Just as it’s your grandmother’s choice to do whatever she does.

I agree that dismissing every old person as having one foot in the grave is harsh. But in reality, looking at society as a whole, depriving so many people of their livelihood, adventures, relationships and freedom against their will for a whole year is not excused by saying they are selfish for putting old people (who may be as equally useless sods as beloved elders) at risk either. Both views are unreal. It’s imposing your choice on everyone else as much as those objecting to any restraint at all. I wonder how many “old people” make would make the choice to take some risks for a more normal life rather than spend their last years either locked in their homes or in a nursing home. I wonder how much damage this has done to people who have been made painfully aware the government can come along and take everything without a by-your-leave. Then parcel out money it doesn’t have with great abandon to people not damaged by the regulation. The worst is that mildly fearful humans have become so afraid that they support government officials ordering their daily lives in such detail that, even in the face of those same government officials violating their own orders, they pile on like chickens on a wounded bird to support this official crapfest.

It’s really offputting that the misery of official regulation is so unevenly acknowledged. The small clothing store owner has to close her doors because she is called unnecessary while big box stores gain her small share of business. The government employee is protected from having to speak to the public while the police meet all comers. The elder bagging groceries at the checkout is ok to risk because she needs to be there to feed the indulged government 30 year old teacher who “want to feel safe” before returning to her job. Who then puts the burden in turn on the person who has to stop support their family by working with the public and can’t because there is no one to watch her children. This is not a community sharing the risk- it is a bullying by those who have privilege against those who don’t and dare to complain about it.

Kym,

. I emphasize the fact that he is 80 to reiterate the point that all of the lockdown Nazi’s casually and consistently gloss over while advocating that we destroy everyone else’s lives. THAT point, is that the survival rate is OVER 99.5% FOR PEOPLE UNDER 70! So, the man’s age is pretty relevant. We are destroying our currency by printing it into oblivion to pay for this destruction, depriving our children of an education, driving thousands out of business and generally wrecking our entire society and way of life with no muther fucking evidence that these lockdowns do shit, all in an effort to hide from a virus whose primary victims are the elderly! Get the point now!

I just pointed out in another thread that liberal’s opinions are based on feelings, not facts. Thank you for making my case, yet again, as you invariably and predictably do. You take my point about the man’s age completely out of context in an effort to paint me as ruthless and uncaring. And meanwhile, you and every other lib fail to see the irony (as usual) in the ruthlessness and lack of empathy in the failed policies you all endlessly espouse. Apparently the loss and grief suffered by millions as a result of these arbitrary policies is just collateral damage.

I don’t know how you justify that attitude.

Let’s make this about the people, not the multinational corporate bottom line.

We need to find more common ground.

Cheers

Wow- I agree fully! I don’t think either party cares about the commoners- the working poor or the blue collars. The mainstream of both parties care about the rich and the elite power-wielders of the military-industrial mega-corp that is now our country. That said- I paid less taxes under Trump and I am far from wealthy. No I don’t like Trump but it’s true that his tax break also helped some of us working poor. I wish we could stop the polarized hatefest long enough to unite and see the class war that is being waged upon the working poor and middle class through BOTH parties.

Yes, Farce, i agree that our biggest challenge is overcoming this national partisanship that divides us so we are more easily managed.
I too, appreciate some of the Trump presidency tax breaks, which was essentially giving workin class people a little bit more money to spend as we saw fit. I also appreciated his removal of the Obamacare penalty on our taxes if we chose not to buy outrageously expensive health care.

I like it, workin on our common ground instead of division.

Thank you for your perspective!

Let’s continue our focus on the real enemies of the people, the consolidation of government corporate power and control over our lives.

Live free or die.

Experts now say death of despair during the pandemic will likely reach 150,000

Maybe- that’s a hard thing to prove even if “they”- whoever they are- have enough standing to know figures at all. But it will not surprise me if the resentment and animosity so stirred up government bullying is remembered long after memory the pandemic itself has faded. Community is not doing what officials tell you but being a part of something seen as a support. Way too much of the news is not the least bit interested in support of the community. It supports the officials.

The news supports Cuomo yet the truth eventually comes out and he’s going down in the dust.

Newsome gets caught at the French Laundry, who picked up the tab? And who got locked down? Now who’s being recalled.

Obama supported by the news put kids in cages and it was fine, Trump did it and was vilified, now Biden thinks he can put them into steel prisons and it will fly, it won’t, people know the only difference is now the kids can’t even see the daylight.

Even here, people are done with double and triple masks.

As for Kym’s 90 year old aunt, I’m glad she’s well. To bad she doesn’t have family , friends or neighbors to bring her what she needs so society can meet their needs and open up. As for the bank or post office they should keep masking and distancing in place, the places where people MUST go themselves.

Eventually “they” push the lies too far and the people resist.

Left or Right or in The Middle people don’t like being played the fool.

Most business owners who have opened in violation of state and local policies have done so to save their businesses and provide needed services to the community only after considering the risks involved to all involved. I challenge anyone to provide an acceptable scientific study that demonstrates wearing masks or social distancing has decreased the incidence of COVID-19 or saved lives. Like wise provide an acceptable scientific study that demonstrates the lock downs have been beneficial to decreasing the incidence of COVID-19. The fact is there is no good scientific evidence that masks, social distancing or lock downs have done anything to decrease the incidence of COVID-19. The lock downs have been harmful to many people in a variety of ways sometimes leading to fatalities. I will not shun or report a business owner who has “illegally” opened after carefully considering the alternatives and attempts to provide products and service in a manner which they deem to be safe as guaranteed by the Constitution. Government especially in California have excessively restrictive policies with no scientific basis. Initially in the pandemic this was acceptable due to a lack of data. At this time these resrictions are tyrannical and need to be discontinued in a manner consistent with the science at hand.

Very well said Doc.

I don’t expect your challenge will be accepted.

Too much true evidence shows you are indeed correct.

Rollin,

Have you a soul? (Rhetorical Question.)
Is your life of more value? (See above)

You make it sound like he was a nursing home resident.

How very misleading and cavalier.

Was it a vaccine related death?

Getting a shot after contracting Covid19 apparently has the potential for severe side effects.

Death is pretty severe.

It should be made clear if it was from the shot(s).

At the current rate, about 8 people will die in Humboldt just from the shots if everyone is vaccinated with 2 doses.

One out of every 35,000 shots.

8 killings just in Humboldt?
In order to save how many?
To save 33 semi-natural deaths?
Or maybe it was 32 + one killed by vaccination.

Was #33 a vaccine victim, not a Covid19 victim?

Was he among the first ‘vaccine related deaths’?(He may have been among the first vaccine recipients, because he was over 80)

The narrative changes abruptly at that point folks, you must admit.

It goes from a Covid19 associated death,

To a Covid19 vaccine related killing.

Was this gentleman the first one?

It is certainly possible.

How many shots have been administered in Humboldt?

If that number is now approaching
35,000, then we we’re due for our first shot related death.
(I checked, we are at 26,278, and now at 438 per day, so one death is to be expected before 20 days from now, statistically).

You see, in Humboldt, we’ve had 33 Covid19 deaths out of 135,558 people.

24.34 out of 100,000 mortality.

Nationwide it is,

151 out of 100,000 mortality.
(6.21 times worse than Humboldt)

It is 6.21 times less advantageous to risk the two shots if you live in Humboldt.

Nobody is mentioning that.

But that would explain why shots are less available here.

They are more effective elsewhere, so that is where they are going?

2 Shot mortality is in the realm of,

6 deaths out of 100,000.

Here’s the all important differences.

With the shots,
Your chances in Humboldt are only 4 times less (as opposed to 25 times less, Nationwide) than dying of Covid19,

So it doesn’t make nearly as much sense to risk vaccination here as it does in the rest of the country.

Not even close.

4 or so people dying in Humboldt of semi-natural causes, versus 1 or so being killed by the shots.

Ouch!

Nationwide;
25 to 50 dying of semi-natural causes, 1 or 2 or so being killed by the shots.

Still not good.
That’s alot of sacrifices.

As the Covid19 death rate is reduced toward the equivalent of the vaccine death rate, when will it stop?

In Humboldt that means it has to drop 75%.

But in the rest of the Country, it will have to drop 96%.

Will they still be giving shots in Humboldt when it stops doing more good than harm?

The comparison needs to be crystal clear and properly updated regularly and accurately in relative time, not in overall time.

With Covid19, people are dying.
With the shots, people are being sacrificed.

Was this gentleman the first to be sacrificed in Humboldt?

Show some Respect, Folks.

The heartless that say it’s of no concern because he was over 80, are as just as soulless as they are brainless.

I met an 83 year old man yesterday that was going strong, up on a two story roof, single handedly cleaning the gutters, maintaining the rental he provides for a more elderly woman. He was more lively than most teenagers.

I will resist this madness, and try to see it for what it truly is.

This is human sacrifice.

I hope you see it, too, and know that the vaccine is also a threat.

Please, weigh the risk versus gain carefully, and consider carefully, it is always in flux, and it’s relative risk will increase.

If this man was the first sacrificial lamb, don’t you think that deserves special recognition?

I do.

Personally I appreciate everyone here that takes the time to research and consider all the ramifications pro and con of their decisions whatever they decide.
Especially those who decide for themselves and don’t let others decide for them.
