15 Additional Cases Reported Today; Updated Guideline on Youth and Adult Sports

Press release from Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

Covid purple Tier

Fifteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported today. One previously reported case was found to be from another county, so a total of 3,067 Humboldt County residents have tested positive for the virus.

State Updates Youth and Adult Recreational Sports Guidance

The California Department of Public Health today released updated guidelines on youth and adult recreational sports, which would allow community and school-based sports to resume with COVID-19 safety measures and testing protocols in place and if a county’s case rate is below 14 per 100,000 residents.

The state guidance outlines general requirements for all sports and further classifies individual sports based on their risk of COVID-19 transmission and level of contact. That classification determines which additional measures, such as frequency of testing, will be required.

Changes to the youth and adult sports guidance will take effect next Friday, Feb. 26. The Humboldt County Joint Information Center will release additional information early next week.

JIC Responds to More than 30,000 Inquiries

Since the first local case of COVID-19 was reported nearly one year ago, the Humboldt County Joint Information Center (JIC) has responded to more than 30,200 calls and emails. Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services Director Ryan Derby said diverting non-emergency calls from 911 and other dispatch systems helps preserve those systems for life-threatening emergencies.

“Responding to live calls and providing incident-related information has enabled our public safety agencies to focus on immediate life-safety concerns, calls for service and public safety coordination throughout the pandemic,” Derby said. “I’m extremely thankful to both our residents and our JIC staff for utilizing and providing this service to keep our dispatch lines clear for their intended purpose.”

JIC staff are available at 707-441-5000 to answer COVID-related questions Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The antigen tests don’t seem to be increasing. I wonder why. How many cycles are they using for the PCR tests? Has that changed?

Cycles and any other internal workings of the test are entirely, completely, utterly irrelevant. How the test works is not a factor in determining whether the test works. The accuracy of the test has been determined by actual observations. People who test positive tend to be or get sick. People who are sick with covid symptoms tend to test positive. People who test positive but are not sick are still found to be the center of clusters, showing they were infected and spreading it without showing symptoms. People being tested weekly for work do not randomly test positive, showing the false positive rate is exceptionally low. Repeat tests tend to give the same result as earlier tests. etc etc etc. The test could work by showing your swab to a trained squid that changes color based on whether it’s positive or not, and it’d still be just as valid.

If there are so many false positives, where did the sevenfold spike in pneumonia-related deaths come from?

Funny as usual Geist.

I thought we already shot that one down.

Have anything new?

Pretty out there Bushy.

A vast, vast majority are asymptomatic. When they get the fraudulent test and it says positive, by w.h.o’s own recommendation, they should be cleared as “negative”.

But losing $158k per “case” isn’t very profitable.

Obliviously, maybe give ole mark zuckerburg’s/bill gates’ lab a jingle and ask them if they’ve changed the cycle threshold. (cz biohub)

That should be a pretty short conversation. 🙂

The purpose of trolling is to provoke others into displaying emotional responses or to normalize tangential discussion either for amusement or personal gain.

……..

Artificial amplification (aka “signal boosting”) of media content is a cause for concern because it can make it relatively easy to manipulate mass opinion, which in turn can have disastrous effects on the stability of democratic systems of governance.

………

“Astroturfing”

using divisive issues to widen existing cultural divides and promote infighting within a particular movementcreating “manufactured consensus,”

…..or the illusion of popularity, so that an idea or position without much public support appears more popular and mainstream than it actually is

What about the flu? We should test the flu like this.

Most the people that have been frantically running to get tested have gotten the vaccine, imagine that. Now cases will drop ,cause the rest of us don’t care to know what killed us. We are not Karens

Testing is also to prevent you from spreading it to others, or notifying others you may have infected so they can not spread it to others, etc, not just to determine what treatment you need. You know, caring about people other than yourself.

I said the rest of us that don’t get the vaccine. We will only spread this lamedemic amongst ourselves, we know the very very very low risk and we laugh, go get your vaccine Bush and leave the rest of us to do as we wish.

Pretty much.

Did you go get tested last year for the flu Bushy? So you know if you might “spread” it?

If you’re sick, stay home.

Asymptomatics do not “spread” it. Just like the flu…..

Common sense really.

Nice update. The update is that the guidance has been updated. I’ll eagerly await the next update to the guidance. The big question is are kids allowed to play with other kids? Please update

Thank you for the information Kym. My comment about the updates to the guidance was not directed to your reporting of the update, more to the over complication of seemingly (to me) uncomplicated questions. Which seems to happen when the government is the one providing the answers. Be safe Y’all, whatever that means.

I didn’t realize the damage , or potential learning that could happen from isolating kids from their friends. …

Maybe stronger family relationships?

Sounds like you don’t have kids if you don’t realize that they need to have friends apart from their family. I think family bonds are strengthened when you spend time with others who may not think the same or treat you the same as your family does. I do not think anyone should be “isolated” from social interactions as long they are healthy activities like youth sports and children’s play time.

I didn’t make these fucked guidelines, I sure as hell don’t follow them. Thank goodness my kids finished up with their schooling.

IF you don’t like it,,

DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

There’s the rub, whether or not you think it’s right or wrong, so many people don’t have a cellular memory of what it means to resist tyrants

FUHS as been in class since August, kids have had classmates over and been doing regular functions, no body died, imagine that. Especially with this pandemic with its low very very low almost non existence threat to the younger crowd. Panic on Karens

Presidents week Willie, FUHS always takes a week off to observe the great people that lead this nation, like tricky dick, carter got pills, reganomics, W ,bill i didn’t inhale where did i put that cigar clinton, obummer no care, [edit] buffoon, and ole smeller, they will be back Monday, the only group of kids that anyone stood up for. Thank you Mr. Ellenbrect , haven’t heard too many bash on you now that the school year worked out. You were right, all the other Karen’s were wrong, COVID-19 isn’t a good enough reason for kids to not be in school. As far as kids dragging covid home, fortuna doesn’t hsve a higher cases rate than any other local town. So yes Karen’s, you panicked and shut schools down for no good reason, panic was the reason.

The Joint Information Center is a joke. I have called twice to ask simple questions about COVID exposure and testing. Both times I was given no help. I was told they don’t know about all the testing facilities in the County, so I should just call around. They are a waste if taxpayer dollars.

I wonder how much it will really take go break these branch covidians from their grip on the made for TV drama that has so many people ignoring the real world suffering that is on its way. They might not have understood trickle down economics, but shutting down a good portion of peoples economic security is going to have sum exciting consequences. Stay tuned to the latest covid numbers, but ignore the federal reserves ability to keep printing money.
