Physicians Offer Scholarships for Future Physicians

The Humboldt-Del Norte County Medical Society’s Humboldt-Del Norte PreMedical Education Task Force (HUM PET) has established a Future Physician Scholarship Fund, awarding two $1,000 scholarships to students planning on attending medical school. Beside educating our high school students about what we do in our profession, we are also working closely with the HSU Pre-medical society. We hope that these students will want to return to our beautiful area by doing rotations here during medical school, join our brand new local family medicine residency program and hopefully return or stay to practice in Humboldt-Del Norte upon completing their training. This is one of many activities our HUM PET Committee is actively working on to help build our future pipelines of healthcare professionals for the North Coast. The Scholarship is coordinated through the Humboldt Area Foundation and allows for tax deductible contributions to the fund https://www.hafoundation.org/Giving/Give-Now. (Type in fund name). Applications through the Scholarship Finder, students will be instructed to make an account and take a short eligibility survey. The survey matches them to funds they are eligible for and then can complete the application.
