20 New Cases Reported Today; Vaccination Progress Continues
Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:
Twenty additional cases of COVID-19 were reported today, bringing to 2,672 the total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus.
Humboldt County today also reported five new hospitalizations related to COVID-19 for a total of 13 this week, which is more than any previous week of the pandemic. Public Health officials pointed out that hospitalizations lag a few weeks behind an increase in cases and urged county residents to be vigilant and follow all prevention measures, noting that simple precautions can have a big impact when everyone adheres to them.
Between today and Thursday, about 1,000 health care providers and emergency services workers, including firefighters and law enforcement personnel, are scheduled to be vaccinated at Public Health clinics. An additional 250 health care providers are scheduled to receive their second dose Friday.
Educators also have started receiving vaccination appointment invitations through the Humboldt County Office of Education or their district, beginning with about 1,000 educators and support staff at districts and charter schools that are currently providing in-person education. An additional estimated 2,100 educators and support staff who are engaged in distance learning will be invited to a clinic soon. Public Health expects that all educators and support staff will have received an invitation by mid-February, depending on vaccine availability.
Other designated local vaccine providers have scheduled nearly 600 people age 75 and older for clinics this week. Those participating in this week’s clinics received invitations after filling out the county’s COVID-19 Vaccine Interest Form.
Providers approved to administer vaccine will reach out directly to their patients who are 75 and older as doses become available. Anyone, especially those who do not have a provider, can fill out the interest form to be notified when appointments are available, and more than 10,700 county residents have completed the form so far. If you can easily buy it at the local cvs, that’s not “being treated”. And there’s no need for the Gov to get involved. It’s cheap and easy- like ibuprofen. No “treatment” needed.

You are spreading information without understanding it. Multiple people have explained to you that those are incomplete death counts. The CDC says it on the top of the page you linked. “Death counts are delayed and may differ from other published sources”

Yes, if you average the current almost 440,000 deaths in the U.S. across the entire year then there are roughly 1270 deaths per day. However, you said, “The WEEK ending 1/16/2021 had 3700 deaths nationwide” which is not the full amount of deaths as witnessed by what the CDC director just said. According to the stats for that week by multiple respected organizations, there were more like 3400 deaths per day that week.
The graph below roughly agrees with that all other respected sites give as the number of deaths over the course of the year.

And, those are all conservative numbers. There are excess deaths beyond what are counted for by COVID so far that indicate that likely even more deaths are attributable to the virus that haven’t been acknowledged on death certificates. Thus the CDC director saying there are roughly 4000 deaths per day.

I’m seeing 366,186 “deaths involving covid” with roughly 12k from 2021.
I understand that not all the death count has been recorded yet by the cdc but the directer knows the numbers, just hasn’t published them?
Would you say that the number of deaths “involving covid” are correct for 11/07/2020?

I was watching an earlier count (cdc) a few days after it was posted(week ending 1/02/2021). The rise in numbers was somewhat negligible.
Of course it could still go up but it went from 6.7k to 9.6k.
Which, so far, doesn’t account for 28k per week. At rates that high I sure hope the cdc gets their shite together.

The chart you keep referring to is not the full count. Below is a screenshot of the CDC COVID Data Tracking page. See the number on the right? 427, 626 + new deaths. That’s from the CDC. That’s the number they use. It is the lowest of all the respected sites because they take longer to verify. But nonetheless it is substantially higher than the number you are giving.
