About 6:30 p.m., a vessel was reported to be on the rocks at the South Jetty of the Humboldt Bay, according to reports over the scanner. Three patients have been pulled from the water.
The Coast Guard, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, Loleta Fire, and Fortuna Ambulance were all dispatched to the scene.

Three cheers for the Coastguard!
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 I hope they are ok…
Thank you Coast Guard!!!!!
Was out at the jetties in the afternoon… it was a rotten day out on the ocean.
I dunno what people would be doing out there. Looking for crab I guess.
Burrrrr! COAST GUARD ROCKS! No pun intended.
Thank You US Coast guard! For the excellent rescue ,being so brave and well trained. Words can’t describe how valuable of an asset you are to those who make their living on our North Coast Rivers and Ocean. Emily, I hope your man was on that team who brought John and crew to. Safety!
Omg Tammi this is so scary- I pray all are ok and all is taken care of… I simply can’t imagine. Glad the coast guard practices water rescue so they were there to save your man and crew
God Bless the USCG..always having our backs..a job well done!!
Crabbing on the North coast of California is fraught with dangers. Fisherfolks are traversing a dangerous bar on a good day. The winter tides and seas are absolutely savage. Waiting for the boats to come in is nerve wracking and it is comforting to know the Coast Guard has a great team to see that our fishermen and women get back to their loved ones. I applaud the men and women that risk their lives to save others. Thank you. P. S. Rex and I are really glad to hear everyone on board survived.
Holly crap Tammi! That makes me feel gut shot. Can’t imagine how you must feel. A night rescue! John and his crew have to be pretty rattled. Give them hugs for us! God bless the Coast Guard! GOOD JOB FELLAS!!
I have been known to remark that, of all our military, only the Coast Guard actually does useful things for the public. Here’s more proof of my assertion.
I believe the US Army Corps of Engineers dredge the bay and did the concrete work without that it would be far more dangerous, I would consider that useful…
Go home to your loved ones and do the happy dance guys!
That boat has been a study producing icon on the west coast for as long as I can remember. A huge loss for the entire Bowen family. I am so sorry for your loss. Don’t pay any attention to the negative comments on Facebook Tammi, it only will make you more upset. We all know they’re dip-shits! Tell John I am so glad everyone is okay.
John tammi glad here every one of best wishes
Thanks everyone, we are slowly putting all the pieces back together. What nerve racking week it’s been! USCG Humboldt Sector has been amazing! I just can’t say enough about how good they have treated John and I thru this ordeal.
I am actively looking for a picture of the Sunup put on the ocean (probably summer time) poles down doing her job hailing in the fresh fish. If you have one please send it to me via Facebook Messenger.
