When Mountains Move…Video of the Slide on Hwy 96
Caltrans District 2 posted a video of the slide that closed Hwy 96 four miles west of Happy Camp. (We’ve included it below.) They do report, however, that Hwy 96 is currently open to one-way traffic control with approximately 30 minute delays.
“Please be aware that this slide remains active and conditions can change,” Caltrans warned. “To stay up to date on conditions, be sure to follow the posts on the Caltrans District 2 Facebook page. You can also check QuickMap (quickmap.dot.ca.gov) or call the Caltrans Highway Information Network at 1-800-427-7623.”

Angle of repose accomplished.
I always wondered why there isn’t more vegetation on those hillsides on 96… vegetation creates stability and they certainly know this. Seems like a simple solution…
Not on that slope. Nature bats last.
Great video. Who ever caught it.
I seen a lot of “vegetation” flowing down the hill
Every mountain along the river is headed to the sea. It might take a million years but that’s where it going
That’s where all of those furtile valleys come from.
Video not showing up on my browser (Safari) Update: Showed up after a few minutes. Impressive
Nor here, in firefox.
That’s what happens when you cut roads thew the montains in the places that are already unstable become a nightmare to control them in unstable spots then there are the regular mest up spots everywhere that are also are a constant burdon
Not if you’re making $35.50 an hour 96 is a great job creator

It is embedded from Facebook. Some readers have trouble accessing it but others can see videos from there. When I have no other options, I have to embed. But here is the link. https://www.facebook.com/caltransdistrict2redding/posts/3635372029850643
