About 9:08 a.m., a vehicle, reportedly a Chevy Tahoe, rolled over and crashed on Hwy 101 just north of Bridges Creek between Leggett and Piercy.

An ambulance was requested.

The road was temporarily closed and then one way traffic was put in place. As of 11 a.m., traffic is moving very slowly through the area in both directions.

We’ve requested more information from the CHP and they have promised to put out a press release shortly.

Ahhhh. Bridges Creek. I remember it well.
I took an old American cruiser off the side of 101 immediately north of Bridges Creek in the 70’s when I was a teen. Took the turn on the creek bridge a little too fast late one night, in a car with worn out shocks. Ended up part way down to the river. My buddy who was sleeping in back got ‘a rude awakening’. Ha! And, as often occurs when young folks have accidents, we were fine, blessed (and after towing to Garberville, and a little repair, I drove the car away…).

I feel very sorry that the woman lost her life, but not wearing a seat belt is just plain stupid. It just takes a second to put on, and in this case may have saved her life. Condolences to her family and friends. May she RIP. God bless.
