[UPDATE 9:29 p.m.: Roadway Clear] Two Collisions on 101 as Traffic South of Willits Attempts to Avoid Log on Road
At approximately 7:45 p.m., the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicates a log lying on Highway 101 south of Willits just north of the scales caused a traffic collision. The CHP Incident Information page says the vehicle attempted to swerve out of the way of the log which resulted in the vehicle rolling multiple times and coming to rest on its roof in the northbound lane.
A Willits resident driving near the scene told us traffic is stopped in both directions. The Caltrans Quickmap indicates traffic is heavily backed up in the area.
The CHP Incident page also states a second traffic collision occurred as a result of the incident.
Caltrans is responding to deal with “a lot of debris’ in the road.
