Robert Charles Stansberry: ‘A Natural Affinity for Animals’

This section includes both obituaries and memories. Honoring our loved ones who have died does not end immediately after their passing. We recognize that… so we’re extending our obituary section to include individuals who may have left a long time ago. If you want to remember someone who is gone, either recently or longer ago, please send a photo and your memories to [email protected].

Robert Charles Stansberry

Robert Charles Stansberry

Robert Charles Stansberry was born October 27, 1967 at Eureka General Hospital and left us on January 6, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His mother’s first son, he had a natural affinity for animals and liked hunting and fishing. He enjoyed living the country life when his mom married his stepdad, Robert Stansberry, and moved out to the ranch in Honeydew. He attended South Fork Highschool and – shortly after the birth of his son, also named Robert – moved to Colorado Springs to join the Army. He served his country stateside during the Gulf War and went on to live in Colorado Springs for the next thirty years, returning to visit in 2002 along with his fiancé Gabi. The two were married while standing on the banks of Gilham Creek. He had one item on his bucket list — flying to Berlin– although he hated planes.

Robby is survived by his widow, Gabi Stansberry, his son Robert (Natasha) Stansberry, his mother Valerie and stepfather Robert Stansberry, his brothers Andrew and Justus Stansberry and his sister Linda Stansberry, his uncle Robert Oglesby (Clydeine) as well as several grandchildren through blood and through marriage.

Those who remember and loved Robby are invited to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project. Robby will be buried on the family ranch near Honeydew, services pending.

My sincerest condolences to the Stansberry family, especially Val and Bob. Losing a child, at any age, must be unimaginably hard. Sending you love and well wishes through this challenging time.
