Marjorie (Marjie) Anne Clary: ‘A very loving and devoted wife, mother, Nana, Great Nana, and friend’

This section includes both obituaries and memories. Honoring our loved ones who have died does not end immediately after their passing. We recognize that… so we’re extending our obituary section to include individuals who may have left a long time ago. If you want to remember someone who is gone, either recently or longer ago, please send a photo and your memories to [email protected].

Marjorie ClaryMarjorie (Marjie) Anne Clary, 78, passed away in Fortuna, CA on December 29, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). She was born in Fort Bragg, CA. Her family eventually moved to Upper Lake, CA and it was there that she met Jim Clary, the love of her life. They married in Lakeport, CA on January 17, 1959.

Marjie was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, Nana, Great Nana, and friend. She was a homemaker and took great pride in her role. She was an amazing cook and would often read recipe books as if they were novels. When her children were in school, she was very active in PTA where she served several terms as an officer. She would often volunteer in the classroom as the room Mom, and all the kids loved her.

In 1995, after her husband retired from Mercer Fraser, they began their lifelong dream of traveling full-time in their RV (for 23 years) and enjoyed it immensely. They traveled all over the United States, but their travels kept taking them back to Lake Havasu, AZ, where they made many wonderful friends. They spent many winters and holidays together, and it wasn’t long before these friends became more like family.

She is survived by her son Jimmy Clary Jr. and wife Tammy, daughter Teena Wilkinson and husband Robert, son Justin Clary and wife Laura; grandchildren Robert Richardson and wife Melissa, Janay Neufeld and husband Loren, Austin Clary and fiance Kristen, Jordan Wilkinson, Emily Clary, step-granddaughter Sabrina Thomas; great-grandchildren Ethan and Ember Richardson, Meadow Clary, Jada Neufeld, and step great-granddaughter Hazel Mobbs; sisters Pam Lockhart, Jo Stagno, Wendy Watson-Fanders; brother Lynn Miller and lifelong friends Marie Caldwell and Judy Wells. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Jimmy Clary Sr., dad Glenn Watson, mom Betty Miller, step-dad Roy Miller, sister Glenda Bucknell, brother Gary Miller.

The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice of Humboldt and the staff at Sequoia Springs Assisted Living Center for their kindness, care, and compassion. You are amazing beyond words.

Those who desire may make memorial donations in the memory of Marjie to the Hospice of Humboldt.

The family is planning a celebration of life at a future date.

My Best Buddy in Grammar School , and even when we moved away from Garberville our Parents were great friends too. We would write as her and Jim Traveled and they picked up their mail in TX. Wow! I had not seen her in years but we were close in our Teens. We all went to Upper Lake and she told me about Jim, (her husband). And we went for a walk and he came by. They were just staring their girl friend , boy friend relationship. I didn’t know about Glenda passing either. . So Sorry.
