On Christmas Day, Popular Mechanics posted an article entitled
12 Amazing U.S. Company Towns You Can Still Visit and Scotia, of course, was featured. The piece correctly noted, “Take one look at the well-designed wooden structures in
Scotia, California, and it’s clear that it benefits from being a town founded by a lumber company.”

Winema building is gorgeous but it sucks like everything in town in closed and empty
I remember the mill tour the kids and I loved it, after that idiotic redwood summer the mills had an excuse to quit their tours. Too much BS to keep operating so we can just watch our timber die and burn.
The Scotia Inn is a cool building with curly redwood in the bar.
It was a sad day when the Carlotta Inn burned.
