Two vehicles–a sedan and van–collided at a two way stop at Del Norte and Albee in Eureka. The work van then careened down the road and collided with a parked vehicle which in turn hit another parked vehicle on West Del Norte about 6 p.m.

One person was transported to the hospital by ambulance and one refused medical attention, according to Humboldt Bay Fire.

This is what nearly zero traffic enforcement looks like. The City Council needs to prioritize traffic enforcement or the number of collisions won’t go down.

according to California’s Office of Traffic Safety (OTS.gov), Eureka statistically now has the most dangerous streets for a small city in all of California…it’s been trending that way for years, but the idea of traffic enforcement falls on deaf ears.

Obviously it’s the sedan’s fault for being painted black. It should be painted bright colors to be visible to drivers.

This sort of thing seems to be a nightly, or even twice-nightly occurrence in Eureka. Call me prejudiced, but any time some clapped-out drift racer wannabe car with rubber band tires and a fart can muffler is involved, there’s a high probability that its driver is at fault.

I believe you have a point there cause it’s not the drivers fault its the damn car not being visible even if the other vehicale ran a stop light or speed through. Let’s not blame the robber lets blame the owner for owning it. Let’s serve people food inside our restaurant make money and pay the city for doing it all the money we made. Now how we gonna pay the water bill. Stage a crash outside our restaurant and sue the city. Go figure.

That side of town is junkies heaven. Constant traffic. 3 to 5 minute visits. Cars are back and forth. One car going back and forth to a house on wabash and right below california market. cops have been to both properties with nothing done. Also the green victorian duplex on california and wabash. They have no door knob or dead bolt on the door and bedroom window s plywooded over. No fire egress out of the unit. City code inforcement should have this place shut down

looks as tho the van got T-BONED on the driver’s side. The sedan would be the potential cause since its front end is toast. I hope everyone is doing okay. Was the sedan driver under the influ? We’ll never know

Driver ran the stop sign going at a very high rate of speed. Made no attempt what so ever to stop. Saw it with my own eyes.

American Stove Works head for a last minute chimney cleaning going a little fast were they. I have no idea how all that happened, but we really need a few sneaky police officers hiding along different streets where these accidents seem to happen. I miss that motorcycle officer, he could play hide and seek with the best of them.

The car in the street is a hatchback. The car that was rear-ended by the van is a sedan.

What I do not understand is the lack of interest from EPD regarding the high speed traffic on W Buhne. I have sent many emails to the EPD Traffic Sgt., the City Manager & others about the number of accidents due to the speeding. Even EPD vehicles speed by (no lights/siren) along with the others speeding–no one gets a ticket for speeding. I left S.F. to get away from tailgaters but you got them up here in force. When I slow down and activate my right turn blinkers cars get right on my tail instead of slowing down allowing me to make my turn safely.
