A fatal crash was discovered on Hwy 299 today, according to the Incident Commander speaking over the scanner.

Just before 1 p.m., a vehicle was seen on its roof against a culvert over a steep embankment near mile marker 32 on Hwy 299 about five miles west of Willow Creek.

Emergency personnel requested rappelling gear and an air ambulance. But REACH 18 declined due to weather.

At 1:27 p.m., emergency personnel reported that the occupant was deceased. The Coroner’s Office was requested, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.

Dispatchers sent Salyer Fire and Blue Lake Fire to the incident.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

I hate these reports.
I have a 25 yesr old son who is lax at keeping in touch. I have the mind of a mom, so I always wonder if it’s him.

Sending prayers for the friends & family of the deceased.

My son is about to be 26 in 2 days, I that is right where my head went first when reading this. First thing I do is text him and I never get an immediate response which makes me even more anxious. These stories make me so sad, condolences to the family.

Jeri, Roxann and Anna, it will always be this way. I don’t understand why our grown men children can’t understand why? I’m hoping when mine become fathers, they’ll finally get it!?
