Never understood why people drive so fast on that road. Lots of houses, cars parked on the shoulder, you never know when a gate is left open and a dog gets out.

… it’s because our laws don’t hold drivers accountable when they injure or kill others, unless they are DUI.

Wow its as if youve never been or seen anyone charged for “gross negligence” or “involuntary manslaughter” or “vehicular manslaughter” etc.

California dui laws are some of the strictest in our country. Type ‘Watson admonishment’ into google.

Here’s a link to a Eureka man on his fifth or sixth dui. He’s still driving and spent almost zero time in jail because he can afford good lawyers. He has NOT quit drinking and driving.

Are you kidding? Even then most are not held accountable.

My heart goes out to the injured person, may the recovery be speedy.

I live off Elk River & the recklessness is increasing with every year. It’s a big risk every time I leave the house.

Slow down or better yet, stay home.?

I went through here not even 5 minutes before this ocurred. There was a lot of traffc that was coming from F St and also Broadway south from the Truckers Parade. There were also several people walking pets as is typical as I live nearby. Even in dark hours not long after sundown there are folks jogging, riding bikes, walkng pets etc. There are a few miscreants that come up from folks that like to use the park-n-ride as a campground. It was a risky part of the roads to try and cross as there as lighting is poor and the only stop sign is at Elk River Rd. People choosing to play Frogger there take a big risk.

People drive way too fast on that stretch of road. The road is narrow, and does not leave much space to miss someone walking or biking. I hope they catch the coward that drove off. Another boarder line human!!!
