House Passes Law to Decriminalize Cannabis (But, Probably, the Senate Isn’t on Board)

Today, in an historic first, the House voted 228 to 164 mostly along party lines (Democrats for and Republicans against) to remove cannabis from the federal schedule of controlled substances. This would allow for selling marijuana (and, of course, taxing it) throughout the nation.

Never before has either the House or the Senate voted to decriminalize marijuana.  And, last month’s election saw a number of states relaxing cannabis laws.

However, the law would need to pass the Senate which Republicans currently control. It is unlikely to do so as Republicans have consistently indicated they are against cannabis decriminalization at a national level.

Let’s be clear here. Republican mental pathology is the problem. That and their addiction to Big Pharma campaign donations.

Thankfully it seems to be mostly a generational problem. Younger Republicans aren’t as ignorant as their elders.

Damn republicans and Mitch with his hemp. Atleast the democrats are drooling as they add up the tax revenue they can collect, go Joe, get Wal-Mart in the game.

It is easy. We need to secure the two Run-Off Senate seats in Georgia and we currently have the momentum but are up against those Corporate elites you mentioned.
Please direct any additional funds to the amazing JON OSSOFF (https://electjon.com/bio/) or the brilliant RAPHAEL WARNOCK (https://warnockforgeorgia.com/)
Democrats can finally regain control of the Senate!
A secure place to donate is below as we need this more than EVER.

Umm…you might want to check your own pathology- that all one way or the other mentality. DEMs are very beholden to Big Pharma also. Especially Sleepy Joe Biden from the fine state of DuPontaware… Similar to the military/industrial blue chip corporations the Big Pharma disease is not just one of the parties but deeply embedded into both. That’s why Hilary and Obama sold us out on single-payer and made a health plan that guarantees huge profits to pharmaceutical and insurance companies. Be honest and blame both greedy, corrupted parties! Let’s never forget that when Bushler pushed the Drug War even harder than RayGun that it was Biden who shocked us all with an even MORE punitive Drug Crimes approach! So maybe there’s another reason why this vote went along party lines? I don’t think it’s because DEMs all love us and REPs all hate us. That kind of simplistic thinking is childishly flawed…I have a few theories ($$$, FDA, gifting the industry to their Big Pharma friends, etc) but I’ve already said so much….and anyways- federal possession of less than an ounce is ALREADY DECRIMINALIZED, remember? I believe that the DEMs are actually the bad people in this next stage of cannabis freedom and we should be fighting them on this corporate handout plan…

Still doesn’t make up for that ghoul McConnell. Mr. Obstructionist finally got that (insert “N” word here) out of office after 8 years and they’ve spent the past 4 years in an obsessive, pathological march to eliminate everything and anything that had that (insert “N” word here)’s name on it. Whether good for America or not, “the winners write the history” (William Barr). America is screwed, one way or the other until we get back to cooperative efforts for the American people.

Yeah, your right – who I am kidding?
The system is corrupt to its core and we will have to eliminate this two-party stranglehold and repeal “Citizens United” to get any real traction. I guess having to live through what we had to deal with the past four years has made me momentarily delusional. All I know is Jon Ossoff and Pastor Warnock would be much better Senators than Perdue or Loeffler and would bring the pressure for positive change. There are many other issues that could be addressed with creative policy if those Dems get the key to the Upper House.

“Thankfully it seems to be mostly a generational problem. Younger Republicans aren’t as ignorant as their elders.”

This is true. Unfortunately, younger Democrats are magnitudes more ignorant than their elders.

Big pharma campaign donations go every bit as much to Democrats.

I hope it becomes federally legal soon and puts an end to illegal weed forever. I’m sick and tired of all the douchebaggery it brings to Humboldt. If you wanna grow weed that’s fine with me but dont make out you’re the next Mark Cuban.

One last bastion that has common sense, it’s not legal on a federal level for a reason. No matter what you voted for local.

What is that reason?

Used to be that we didn’t let women vote for a “reason” but forward thinking people changed that because it was the right thing to do.

One idea is that once it becomes federally legal, it becomes legal to import from other countries. That may affect domestic prices. Do you remember about two years ago when all those canadian companies were buying farms in this area? They’re already buying infrastructure. They have the investors. They just need the go ahead from uncle sam.

Yeah, we know the reason, courtesy of Nixon’s policy chief John Ehrlichman, 1994:
“You want to know what this was really all about? The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or blacks, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

There is too many democrats running the cannabis industry.
Is there any Conservative cannabis companies?

Maybe they just oppose legalization because they see it as a win for democrat businesses.

Biden’s plan is to gift the entire industry to his Big Pharma corporate buddies by placing it under the FDA. What happens next is war on our county’s independent growers. It will make CAMP look like nothing. They want all the money, Biden’s feds want all the tax revenue and they will take it all. Don’t fool yourselves. They are coming for one of the last ways rural people can actually live a free life and poor people can purchase some land and build a home…All that money? It’s all THEIR MONEY and they want it.

It worked in the 80s but now it’s old hat get real corporate take over is here to stay, accept it. Possibly take another road and remember : we are all in this together, use Karma play fair don’t hate. Long live the holy herb.sd.

Yeah for reals bro. What the hell is ntd? You probably think we all need a CoVid card to hit the grocery store and that the whole thing is a hoax. Well. It’s not a hoax. It’s a way blown out of proportion virus that some of us are very susceptible to. And our govt doesn’t have a rats ass how to deal with so they are making poor decisions with peoples well being. We don’t need your cool aid when the real deal is in front of your eyes. It’s bad but don’t spread lies without solid evidence.
