PUBLIC NOTICE OF VACANCY

Interested persons are hereby notified that pursuant to Education Code 5091, 5093 there are two

(2) vacancies effective December 9 and December 12, 2020 on the:

Southern Humboldt Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees

Pursuant to Education Code sections 5091 and 5328, the Board of Trustees of the Southern Humboldt Joint Unified School District intends to appoint a qualified person to the Board for each vacancy.

The provisional appointment for each vacancy will fill a shortened term ending December 2022. The seats will go to election in November 2022 for a full four- year term.

The current members of the Board of Trustees will interview applicants in open session at a meeting on January 14, 2021.

Applicants must meet the following requirements in accordance to Education Code 35107(a): Any person, regardless of sex, who is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and who is not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office, is eligible to be elected or appointed a member of a governing board of a school district without further qualifications.

Applications are due by: January 8, 2021 to the Office of the Superintendent by 4:00 p.m.

Now you’re chance to improve education here. Get involved and bring the curriculem you want to are schools. Change the policy to what works too improve the child’s future. Increase teachers pay to a livable wage. So are taxes go up too pay for it. It will be worth it for the improvement that will be scene in the community. No more homeless or jobs that pay $9 an hour. Education =success. Stop the waste.

Sonnyb, I lived in Miranda for years and attended school there. It was great back then in the 50’s and 60’s, but started a down hill run after that. I agree with your great comment 100%!!!!
