A vehicle struck a pole at the intersection of Broadway and Hawthorne about 11:15 p.m. One man has a broken leg and a woman has an injured arm, according to the Eureka Police Officer on scene speaking to the dispatcher over the scanner.

The pole has been damaged but not badly enough to call out crews to fix it tonight.

Two ambulances were requested to respond to the scene Code 3 [with siren and lights.]

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

I’m still trying to figure out WTF Game some drivers around the Eureka area think they’re playing, I wonder if it’s a Frogger revival or a new version of GTA, called GTA Humboldt!!!

Gabriel, I don’t think your nasty comment is worth printing on toilet paper. Do you have a constructive idea on how to stop all the accidents on Broadway? No I did not think so. Enjoy driving Broadway!

On the topic of accidents, there’s a possibly newsworthy one at three corners. Looked like a white or yellow hatchback failed to make the curve on myrtle, rolled into the bushes. Police car parked in the northbound lane in exactly the worst possible spot, with no flares or warning, trying to get themselves as a secondary collision. Seriously needs to back up like 50ft. Expect the curve will be blocked for a while, possibly both lanes, for the recovery.
