Say “Happy Holidays” Victorian-style This Year!

Press release from the Clarke Historical Museum:

Ever wondered what sentiments our great-great-grandparents shared in the festive season? Well, now you can not only see them but share them yourself!

Buried in a dark corner of the Victorian Room at the Clarke Historical Museum, staff uncovered a veritable treasure trove of holiday Victoriana, including a selection of original greeting cards. Now, those original cards have been carefully scanned to create quality prints suitable for reproduction.

Thanks to our friends at Times Printing, the Clarke Victorian Holiday Card Collection are now available in variety packs of six cards and envelopes for $25. The cards are being sold in the Museum gift shop and at Eureka’s own Victorian printshop, Just My Type Letterpress, at 235 F Street in Old Town, Eureka next to NCIDC in the Carson Block. All proceeds from Just My Type Letterpress card sales go to the Clarke Museum.

“We loved the quirkiness of these cards so much,” says Museum Director-Curator Katie Buesch “we were sure others in the community would also find them fun and endearing. Lynne Jones at Just My Type likes them so much, she’s donating all the proceeds from sales of the cards back to the Museum!”

If any other business in the community is interested in varying the cards, please contact Katie at the Museum at 707-443-1947 or by email at [email protected].

The mission of the Clarke Historical Museum is to celebrate the rich and varied history of Northwestern California by preserving, sharing, and interpreting that history in ways that increase knowledge, enrich the spirit, engage the mind, and stimulate the imagination.

Katie is doing an amazing job! Makes my heart soar to see what she’s finding tucked in the recesses of the museum.
