Two Suspects Filmed Dropping a Pickup Load of Trash Alongside Hwy 255

To the fellows in the video above, thanks for pushing the sign back…sorta…But no thanks for dumping that large pickup load of trash about a half mile north of Samoa Bridge on State Route 255 near Manila.

About 1 p.m. yesterday, according to the person who provided us with this video, two suspects in a red pickup dumped the large load of trash seen above on the Humboldt Bay side of the road. They have a rather clever method of clearing the truck quickly. Unfortunately, the method leaves the sign post seriously bent.

David, who did not want his last name used, said he was driving when he saw the large pile of trash that had just been dumped. “I saw the aftermath and my neighbor sent me the video [of the suspects dumping it],” he explained.

“I was hoping if you shared it, we’d see if anybody knows these guys,” David told us.

The videographer later gave us permission to share the video. He explained that he was unhappy with the trash dumping, but he didn’t want to talk to law enforcement and “I didn’t want to fight the people and have a big scene.”

If you have any information, please contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251.

The Pac Out Green Team who cleans up trash in our area posted this yesterday.

[edit] Seriously guys, that load will cost you $20 at the the dump maybe, and you spend $10 on gas just trying to hide your load.

Nope, Manila . Police would have pulled them over for uncovered load.

Maybe but taking stuff to the transfer station regularly, I’ve followed hundreds of vehicles with uncovered loads and never seen one stopped. In fact I’ve never seen one anywhere stopped for an uncovered load including commercial dump trucks.

I don’t think people know the level of problem with this. I didn’t until I was hauling pellets up Kneeland Road once and lost a bag. I stopped to clean it up and for the first time looked over the edge of the turn out. The whole side of the hill was covered with trash that was invisible from the road.

Reply tp the misadventures of bunjee – $20? Have you been to the dump? The dump is way over priced and people are out of work. I do not think dumping on the highway is at all justified, they could pile it up in their back yard and leave it there when they get evicted for not paying their rent. I wonder why no one got their license plate number.

Meh, people have been illegally dumping trash forever.

Where I live now, there’s a gravel road out in the country that’s infamous for people dumping trash, washing machines, refrigerators, whatever you can imagine. Been that way for as long as I can remember. Some people are just trashy. Pun not intended.

These guys were incredibly brazen. Hope they get caught.

True Story:

A friend of mine came across a huge pile of trash/garbage on Kneeland about 3 years ago. It happened to be in the pull-out to his property. He went through the trash, found many receipts with the same Eureka address. He loaded up his truck, drove to Eureka, dumped the trash in the driveway of the house. Knocked on the door, told the person “I think you dropped something” – gave them the receipts and left.

More courage than I would have had.

Mailing addresses in trash don’t prove anything. Can’t prosecute on that basis because it is trash and you can’t prove the people at that address dumped it there without a witness.
My daughter lives in the hills, when she comes to town there are usually a couple of bags of trash for the dump in the back of her pickup. She gets to town in the evening and parks in front of my house at the curb. When we get up in the morning the trash is usually gone thanks to the army of M/H zombies that patrol our neighborhood stealing anything they can quickly snatch and be gone with. We’ve even watched them do it. Where it goes from here I have no idea. I even scouted around a couple of times looking for a mess, but couldn’t find one.

^^^NGL That sounds horrible having to deal with thieving lowlifes.
Sorry you gotta deal with that .
as far as dumpers I definitely give the steel eye and will make contact.

This driver should have called 911 , followed the dumpers discretely And got the liscense plate # .
I’m not into using law enforcement for minor stuff , But it this is one of those issues that effects us all .

Actually this is a perfect job for fish and game wardens to handle . They are LE and instead of drumming up ridiculous Administrative charges For the county in regards to pot farms, I think this is a great field for them to oversee.

Now Some responsible adult now has to clean up And you know that is a nasty job.

And fwiw “poor”
Counties in California have Implemented free dumps. It curbs the problem of roadside dumping. It’s worked in other places .
Or utilize a tax on “Legal” pot farms To pay for a free dump. It would easily pass as a referendum if it was on a ballot .

Bullsh*t-Personal mail IS evidence. I used to work for L.E. working this type of case. Sorry, wrong. You have to prove your innocence if L.E. has personal mail in a pile of dumped garbage it is as solid as a fingerprint. Dump fees ESPECIALLY for you.

Sheriff will not do anything. Me another fellow saw and witnessed three individuals dumping a car. Both me and the fellow followed them back to their home. Called the sheriff Department and quote, we were told ” They do not have time for such small complaints, they would send a complaint form in the mail to us.” We , as in the other fellow and I kept in touch, fill out forms. The car sat there for six months until the land owner rented a car hauler and paid for it to be junked. That’s our sheriff Department.

Don’t call people cowards that you don’t know. It’s crazy out there today with all the violence and anger. Anything could have happened if they were confronted by a single person. Think about it honestly.

This and homeless camping and abandoned vehicles is common at this site, which is also used by bird watchers and hunters to launch boats at the risk of their cars being vandalized. All part of Humboldts catering to these sorts of people. A county without civic pride! You should see the needles there.

Yep, but the bleeding hearts keep voting them in, constantly. Honestly, at least half, and probably more like 75%, of the people that use the spot as parking for nature recreation and see needles don’t even think that’s it’s their fault for continuing to elect the social justice carpetbaggers (some if whom refuse to read the comments of their constituants for fear if seeing something that isn’t what they believe, horrors … But that’s another discussion for another day) – nope, they just shake their head, write out a check to a feel good charity – like for something as asinine as harm reduction (literally a laugh out loud concept) – and continue to vote dimmly.

There, you feel better now that you’ve blamed someone? It’s just as easy to say the right whacks are the ones that will take a dump on your lawn and send you a bill for fertilizer. Or simply make sure every well in America shows ppm’s of pthalates. Anything for a buck.

All too common repeat of a re-run. The good ones running who would make some serious changes towards crimes committed and crime prevention don’t get enough votes to rectify Eu[edit]. Extremely difficult for me to follow left-winged liberal way of thinking with no accountable consequences for their rotten repeat performances of their disrespectful indigent actions while the legitimate employed tax payers continue to watch in disbelief and disgust. Definitely move out and move onto to other counties higher ground economic opportunities with educated higher mentality.

I wrote this before. The amount of trash along 101 is ridiculous. I often bike South to the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge and return and the amount of trash is mind boggling. Even from the Herrick Parking lot to Del Norte is a real eyesore. I walk it three and four times a week. One could probably say it is from the homeless, but that could be a stretch. Never have found needles, but a lot of McDonalds food containers, the Mall Food Court, In and Out throw a ways and containers from Walmart. Some of the trash is within site of containers at the parking lot behind Shamus and South to the two parking lots on the way to the Herrick Parking area. Is this done on purpose? Or is it that people just don’t care. How stupid is this?

Obie looked at the seeing eye dog, and then at the twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one, and looked at the seeing eye dog. And then at twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one and began to cry, ’cause Obie came to the realization that it was a typical case of American blind justice, and there wasn’t nothing he could do about it, and the judge wasn’t going to look at the twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us. And we was fined fifty dollars and had to pick up the garbage in the snow, but that’s not what I came to tell you about.

On a serious note though, this is awful. There is so much trash dropped off at pull outs on the road I live on. It makes me sad to see it, and sad to know that some people care so little about this beautiful place.

No, that was Alice’s Restaurant. Most people now do not have the patience to listen to the long version. It was classic American anti-war poetry. And Arlo is old now and can’t go on tour anymore. I’m glad I got to see him when I was younger, same with Country Joe and the Fish. Hey, I ain’t dead yet, just damned close.

I’m equally disappointed of the filmer leaving the scene as the people dumping the trash. I’ve followed trucks filled with trash in the middle of the night on myrtle, all the way up Kneeland, uturn, and then all the way back down. Have some pride and protect our community. The buck stops with us.

They do free tire days. They do free hazardous recycle drops. Maybe once in awhile there needs to be free dump drop days. Set up some dumpsters. A few out in Manila, some out the 36 by Blue Lake. Couple out by Loleta. Free dumping! From the looks of the trash Strollers lotta torn up items that cost a fair amount when purchased. Somebody’s garage was full and cousin Nelly needed a place to land. Not enough to cover the dump costs lets just drive down the road and dump it. Bet they live less than 5 miles away. No money for dump = no $ for gas. Wouldn’t be able to haul that over the bridge to Eureka proper without getting caught. Start looking up some driveways you will find em.

They are obviously such wonderful and self entitled people we should be honored to look at their obnoxious trash pile. It reminds us of where they come from after all… a garbage pile. I pray i catch somebody doing this. We really should have a volunteer trash patrol with the time and means to locate these clowns and deliver their garbage back to them.. I will volunteer to help.

Years ago, I combed through a huge pile of dumped trash off the embankment on Ridgewood. Found numerous envelopes with same name, some lady in King Salmon. I reported it to HCSO and they made contact with the woman. She said she paid someone to dump her trash, someone she never met before. Police didn’t do anything to her. So finding an address doesn’t always find the person who dumped it.

I am willing to bet this truck could be located at one of the tweaker compounds found on Peerless, Victor, Park, or Midway. all within a mile of the dump site. all of these locations have a large red truck on the property in the April 2019 image. these are local tweaker not homeless.
