Two Arrested in Connection With Firearm Theft in Covelo

This is a press release from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

MCSO firearmsOn 11-24-2020 at 3:41 AM, the Mendocino County Sheriff Office was alerted to a reported burglary at M&M Feed & Supply (a general feed and hardware store) in Covelo, California.

When Deputies arrived and met with employees, it was determined that an unknown individual, or individuals, had forced entry into the building after disabling the alarm system.

Items taken from the business included one shotgun, two high powered hunting rifles, and five small caliber rifles, as well as miscellaneous ammunition.

Deputies began an investigation and collected evidence at the scene.

On 11-25-2020 at 10:30 PM (following night), Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies responded back to M&M Feed & Supply for a reported burglary alarm wherein the alarm company was reporting the power being cut to the alarm.

As Deputies arrived in the area, they observed a pickup fleeing the vicinity at a high rate of speed.

Based on the remote location of the business, and the recent calls for service, Deputies were suspicious of the vehicle fleeing upon their arrival.   Deputies attempted to make an investigative stop on the vehicle and the driver fled at a high rate of speed.

The driver attempted to evade the Deputies for approximately 5 minutes until his vehicle became disabled while trying to navigate a creek crossing on Dobie Lane.

The driver fled on foot and tried to hide in some brush. A Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Handler was one of the pursuing Deputies and provided a loud announcement that he would deploy his K9 partner “Bo”, if the driver did not surrender.

Fearing deployment of K9 Bo, the driver, subsequently identified as Eduardo Sifuentes Gonzalez [39 year-old male from Covelo, CA] peacefully surrendered to Deputies.

Two of the firearms stolen from the 11-24-2020 burglary at M&M Feed & Supply were recovered from Gonzalez’ vehicle.

The investigation continued and Deputies responded to the residence of Wendy Sue Joaquin [47 year-old female from Covelo, CA] on Tabor Lane in Covelo.

Joaquin was subsequently found to be in possession of two additional firearms stolen from M&M Feed & Supply during the 11-24-2020 burglary.

Joaquin who was on probation and is a convicted felon was arrested and transported to the Mendocino County Jail for possession of stolen property, being a felon in possession of firearms, and violation of probation.

Joaquin was to be held in lieu of $100,000.00 bail which had to be specially requested by a Deputy and granted by a Mendocino County Superior Court Judge due to the current COVID-19 emergency zero bail schedule.

Eduardo Sifuentes Gonzalez was booked into the Mendocino County Jail for two counts of burglary, two counts of Looting (Burglary during declared emergency due to Pandemic); evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety and resisting arrest where he was to be held in lieu of $15,000.00 bail.

This investigation is ongoing and several of the stolen firearms are yet to be recovered.

Anybody with knowledge of the current whereabouts of the stolen firearms are urged to contact the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office by calling the Tip-line at 707-234-2100 or the WeTip anonymous crime reporting hotline at 800-782-7463.

I am enjoying a fat turkey sandwich so I had time to look, nice catch, yes, Samson Mussolini Joaquin. They must have planned a family reunion at county for the holiday, I hear MSCO makes some mean gravy!

Actually, if you add all this up with some of the gruesome comments I shouldn’t have made light. MSCO and Round Valley seem to be dealing with something very dark at the intersection of Oak and Tabor. I think there is a lot more to come on this and I hope it works out as well as possible.

There should not be firearms available to steal, either from citizens or businesses. The government should have control over all of them. Joe Biden Biden and Kamala Harris will help us with this.

Trashman, that`s a wonderful idea! Who would have thought of such a splendid thing? While we`re at it, let`s make heroin and meth illegal as well so only the government controls these.

Um actually that wouldn’t be a bad idea to decriminalize all drugs like portugal did. Instead of treating people with addictions like criminals , treat them as if they are sick. It Helped their people and it makes a big difference. More people get clean and get help rather than throw them in jail with no help and return them back into society with no guideline or plan.

Absolutely. Europe is way ahead of us, and at this point in history it is all but impossible for private citizens to acquire firearms and ammunition.

According to booking logs Eduardo Sifuentes Gonzalez has been arrested for meth sales, domestic violence, weapons charges: lock this violent felon up, No more being nice to the Covelo thugs and hoodlums. Time to set a very strong example and put this guy away for a couple decades.

I wonder how long this sort of nonsense– drugs, theft, violence — would have been tolerated in, say the year 1900?

Anyone have any ideas on how manly men of 1900 would have taken care of this sort of thing? We`ve gotten so soft and weak; I hope the pendulum swings a very far way back.

If we crunched #s based on population. Covelos’s crime rates are off the charts.
That being said with the shortage of deputies, the lack of 24 hr leo presence and the multiple other dismal and deviant behaviors and crimes it is time for some NATIONAL GUARDS TO POST UP. Call a state of emergency Sheriff Kendall. Put up a base and squash all this ridiculous shit once and for all. They can send troops all over the globe. We need some help up here its WAY OUTTA CONTROL.

Why the f would a feed store have weapons such as this. If they have a permit to sell they should have it revoked immediately for not security their weapons; shame. No pathetic excuse….I know better and so do you.

Also, if you “sheriffs” don’t arrest them (Covid or not) you are a direct reason why scum like this are stealing, or robbing, etc. There is no punishment or arrest. I really don’t give a shit if every prisoner gets covid prison is not supposed to be nice…let it be a deterrent. [edit] I did look and these two are supposedly in jail tonight, still.

They were in a locked building with an alarm system that the crooks disabled. How about instead of blaming folks for thinking that locking their store and setting the alarm is enough , we stop being so hard on folks who defend their homes and stores by the use of these weapons , stop victim blaming , if it truly was the west wild or not this sort of thing wouldn’t happen more than a few times. And while you are at it stop crying for the police or government to solve your problems and hardships, man the hell up and deal with the shit that comes your way yourself. I swear I never met so many true crybabies till I came to northern california.
