Now Hiring Fridays at the Mateel
3 positions:
Kitchen Manager $17 an hour for an 8 hour shift from 12pm to 8pm
Sous Chef $15 an hour for a 6 hour shift from 2-8pm
Janitor at $13 an hour for a 7 hour shift from 3-10pm.

Can we say “DESPERATION”?
Back-house pay seems almost fair by today’s economic picture –
Sous chef rate is sadly below the limit to survive, even by these standards.
Janitor doesn’t even come close to today’s “hazard pay”.
Stick a fork in the Mateel’s ass, we’re beyond well-done and into char-broiled. Nobody is this desperate – and if anyone is, we’re all done for already.
This is the end for the Mateel. Face it already.
Not happening.
Is it a community center or a takeout joint?
It’s a creative organization! Whether they serve food or music, children’s recreation or artisan exhibits, they all support the diverse interests and needs of the community.

(I’ve been to the meals and they are yummy! Plus I know my money goes to help the community! That’s a great ‘appetizer’!! 😉
What you who doubt the pay rate seem to forget is that some people in our community are happy to get paid for work that has been traditionally done by volunteers. And. They know that with the MCC’s financial predicament, they are thinking about more than just themselves. Try that. Maybe you will then understand! 😉
