Law Enforcement Searching for Maroon Pickup in Burglary Where Suspects Stole a Firearm and a Knife

Yesterday evening about 5:30 p.m., a man discovered an unknown red/maroon 2000’s model Toyota Tundra with a lumber rack parked outside his building on the 900 block of Vance Avenue in Samoa and a suspect inside the building.

According to Samantha Karges, spokesperson for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, “Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of Vance Avenue in Samoa for the report of a burglary in progress.”

Karges wrote us in response to our questions that the male victim “confronted a female suspect” outside the building. Then, Karges said, “[H]e noticed a male suspect moving inside the building. As the victim went to confront the male suspect, the suspect fled. The two suspects then fled the property in the Tundra, causing damage to a gate. The suspects reportedly stole a firearm and a knife from inside the building.”

Karges told us, “The female suspect is described as a white female adult in her late 20’s, approximately 5’6” to 5’7” tall, 90 pounds, with dirty blonde or brown hair, wearing a knitted cap.” However, she said, “A description of the male suspect is unavailable.”

Because the vehicle associated with two suspects in a U-Haul alleged to have been attempting to rob permitted cannabis grows in the Ettersburg area was said variously to have been a maroon Toyota Tundra and a red Ford pickup, we asked if there was any connection between the two incidents. According to Karges, “This case has not been linked to the Ettersburg investigation at this time, but we welcome anyone with information about that case to please come forward and speak with deputies.”
