Goofy intersection! Poor planning by someone in the distant past. I hope that mistake is not repeated.

Eureka was never laid out as a common township… other than the old waterfront area.

It is an amalgam of add-on’s as the town grew.
With the ‘gulches’ running through the area, the new add-on’s didn’t bother with standard street configuration. Result is a crazy-quilt design of a town.

Hope everyone is okay.

Weird nitpick. I don’t think that second picture is in front of Sequoia Park, but on Chester St. That row of trees sure looks like the ones on the north side of Washington Elementary (though that’s a fancier fence than I remember). That is literally my neighborhood growing up, and my school. Used to walk on Chester to get to my friends’ houses…

As for the goofy intersection….it’s not that weird. but it is a little messy if you are trying to move onto Hodgson.

A malfunction junction……drivers going Westbound on Chester tend to overlook Southbound drivers on W St., and Eastbound Hodgson St drivers tend to use their right turn signals while going straight onto Chester, confusing drivers going Northbound on W St.

Back in the day when Cutten was less populated, this intersection wasn’t much of a problem to navigate.
The next intersection that could be a problem in the future, is Manzanita and Harrison.

My question is are all these idiots who clearly don’t care about themselves or others just getting a red light violation when they run red lights at well above the speed limit and seriously hurt or kill people? Seems they should get at minimum reckless driving and have their license revoked. But then again, these psychos who don’t care will go do it again license or not. Maybe a few years in prison would at least keep us safe from them for a while.
