Stabbing Yesterday in McKinleyville Was Road Rage Incident, Says HCSO

Stabbing feature iconThis is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On Oct. 27, 2020, at about 4:24 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 1100 block of Chance Lane in McKinleyville for the report of a stabbing victim.

Deputies responded to the area and made contact with the 34-year-old male stabbing victim, providing lifesaving first aid until medical crews arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

During their investigation, deputies learned that the stabbing had been the result of an apparent road rage incident occurring on Haven Lane, in which the victim reportedly confronted the 24-year-old male suspect who had given him the middle finger gesture while driving. During the confrontation, the suspect reportedly stabbed the victim. Following the stabbing, both the suspect and the victim left the scene separately.

While deputies were investigating, the male suspect contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office to provide a statement regarding this incident. The suspect told deputies that he had stabbed the victim out of self-defense. Sheriff’s deputies collected evidence from the suspect, and he was later released at the scene.

This case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made. The case will be forwarded to the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office for review and charging decisions.

Anyone with information about this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.

If someone flips you off, let it go ffs. If you follow someone to their destination and confront them, it is you who is causing a confrontation.

Really not advisable in Humboldt. The guy was lucky. He could have bled out before cops got there. Do you want to be right or do you want to be dead?

Did Paul Hogan show up in the process and say “That’s not a knife!”

Today I learned that when someone gives you the finger you should just toughen up, take it, and move on with your life instead of chasing that person down, confronting them, and then getting stabbed as a result.

This is what happens when you stab the gas then stab the brakes, jack gets knifed.

Should you flip someone off? Probably not especially a stranger while you are driving.

It’s possible that the suspect was indeed afraid and acted in self defense. I have a son about his age and I imagine that he would be quite scared if someone who is 10 years older chased him down in his car and then began acting in an aggressive manner and perhaps threatening him.

Please pray for the two men involved in this horrible situation.

“Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34

People who make mistakes, even really bad ones — deserve a chance to make things right, and lead a better life.

Wouldn’t you want mercy for your mistakes? I know I’m not perfect.

I’d bet money that the victim is a Trump supporter and the flipper/stabber is a crazed liberal.

I’d bet money that you thought about this comment for 15 minutes before posting, then congratulated yourself on your scathing wit for another 45 minutes after. You’re so woke.

When someone shows me one of their fingers, it just makes me laugh, the absurdity of their assumption that if they show me a specific finger that I’m supposed to feel bad. Lol. I never understood that.

This is sad for both people involved. Having said that, a 34 year old chases down a 24 year old and threatens them over being flipped off? Just being followed would be enough for me to feel like my safety was in danger. The fact that he was physically close enough to get stabbed corroborates that he was obviously in the kids no-no zone. There are consequences for being aggressive.
