Woman Sentenced to Three Years After Arranging a Robbery of Her Family’s Home

Humboldt County District Attorney DA BlurPress release from the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office:

On October 23, 2020, Judge Kaleb Cockrum sentenced 31-year-old Jasmin Lopez to three years in prison for first degree robbery.

Events on September 11, 2018 at the Melody Trailer Park in Redway caused the case, when Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call concerning an early-morning armed robbery at the home of Ms. Lopez’ family. In the process of stealing cash and jewelry, multiple home invaders assaulted and zip-tied the hands of Ms. Lopez’ family members and threatened to shoot them if they moved or called out for help. As a result of the assault, one young family member required hospitalization. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies later determined that Ms. Lopez had arranged the robbery and facilitated it by unlocking the door to her family’s house while they slept inside.

The District Attorney’s Office required the defendant to plead as charged, with all sentencing options in the Penal Code available to the judge. California law classifies first degree robbery as a serious and violent offense, which means Ms. Lopez will be required to serve at least 85 percent of her sentence. Her conviction also qualifies as a strike, so it would increase the sentence for any future felony Ms. Lopez might commit. Attorney Vittoria Bossi of Stockton represented the defendant.

🕯🌳Damn that’s cold hearted. She should have gotten more. She’ll just go in and learn a new trade and it won’t be a nice one.

Not really. Someone willing to put the lives of their family at risk to aid in them being robbed is psychopathic! At 30 something years old………. This is pathetic. People like this need a hand removed!

If there’s a reason to disown somebody, this would be one of them.

Oh God, so so sorry to hear this. Her parents are really good people. They did a lot for their kids. Her father worked so hard for his family. He is the stepfather but he raised them since they were very young and really put a lot of love into his family.

They thought it was someone else. I wonder how they found out.

Only three years?!! This is another case of misplaced compassion. We are light on the violent criminals and because of that we do not protect the decent members of our communities. Sorry but we really need to toughen up, people! No wonder we have a rise in vigilantism…we are left to protect ourselves by a failing justice system.
