Intoxicated Man Tries Fleeing Traffic Stop, Says HCSO

On Oct. 25, 2020, at about 11:30 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol in the area of Buhne and Dean Streets, in the county’s jurisdiction of Eureka, observed a black motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed without headlights.

As the motorcycle turned onto Dean Street, the driver, later identified as 31-year-old Timothy James Pack, lost control of the motorcycle, crashing in the roadway. As deputies responded to assist Pack, Pack stood the motorcycle back up and fled. Deputies pursued Pack through Eureka for approximately 1.9 miles, during which time deputies observed multiple vehicle code violations. The pursuit came to an end on O Street when Pack’s motorcycle left the roadway and became disabled in grass. Pack attempted to flee from deputies on foot when he fell into a nearby creek bed.

Pack was taken into custody, then evaluated and treated by Emergency Medical Services personnel for injuries. He was then booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of evading a peace officer (VC 2800.2), fleeing a peace officer (VC 2800.4), resisting arrest (PC 148(A)(1)), driving under the influence of alcohol (VC 23152(A) & VC 23152(B)) and driving on a suspended license (VC 14601.1(A)).
