Double Fatality and One With Major Injuries After Crash Near Covelo

On October 25, 2020, at approximately 2346 hours, an adult female was driving a Toyota Tacoma northbound on Howard St. north of SR-162 at a high rate of speed. There was an adult male in the front passenger seat and an adult female in the rear seat. For reasons still under investigation, the female drove the Toyota off the east roadway edge of Howard St., through a wood fence prior to colliding with a tree. The female driver and male front passenger succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The female rear passenger was flown to Enloe Medical Center in Chico with major injuries. The identity of the driver and front passenger are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The identity of the rear passenger is being withheld pending positive identification.
Impairment as a factor is still under investigation.
Long Valley Volunteer Fire Department, CalFire, Reach Air, Laytonville Ambulance and the Mendocino County Sheriffs Department assisted with processing the collision scene and transporting the injured party.

💔😥🙏💔🙏😥💔🙏😥💔🙏😥💔🙏😥Covelo sigh Covelo. The area where this wreck happened is very close to where the gentleman was shot in front of the pot garden. Soooo that being said it’s really close to the Health Center and the “downtown” area. Driving in Covelo just the other day I’m going down Main Street I was going probably 50 miles an hour just before town and the Welcome to Round Valley sign. Careless local idiots passing by me going at least 70 coming straight into town. As I was at the location I had come to visit it was remarkable the level of basically freeway noise in Covelo the trucks and the water trucks barreling up and down the mountain it sounded like the 405 freeway in the Covelo Valley no peace or quiet whatsoever. Speed limit signs don’t exist in Covelo you just do what you want either make it to your destination or a date with a tree. No in-between. How about some cameras mounted on some really tall poles with speed limit tickets passed out. Sherriff’s office or CHP can do the tickets remotely. Absolutely no respect for others or themselves at this point. The end result of no self respect you wind up dead in a ditch smashed into a tree with your best friend still breathing but barely hanging on by a thread. THATS LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE!!!????? NO IT IS A WASTE OF LIFE. RIP freaking TRAGIC ASS SHIT! When is enough enough? DAMN

A good lesson for people who like to speed. My condolences to the family’s of the female driver, and male front passenger. May they RIP. I hope the rear seat passenger will make a full recovery. Report of Collision did not say if any of the people were wearing their seatbelts. But it sounds like maybe they would have not made a difference in the outcome.
If you’re driving northbound on Howard St. your trip can’t exceed 60 feet. Why, because Howard St. runs east/west.
The posted speed limit in town and on Howard street is 25mph. There are 3 schools on that street.
It sometimes seems as if many ppl have lost all respect for the reverence of their own lives. Love yourself, be kind to yourself & to all you encounter. All lives matter, so live your best life, hour by hour- day by day.
