Wonder if any of the ever-present panhandlers at that intersection had to jump out of the way?

The “Cause”?
Maybe. Maybe not.
But surely a distraction, if present.

She was to busy texting on her cellphone to see the panhandlers or the red light.

The Jeep driver was real lucky that the lady did not impact the side of his vehicle. Not much for protection with the thin door and no side airbag. He could have easily been badly injured or killed.

Got a big roll bar right next to the seat though. That should help

Adam you are correct. But the roll bar is bolted to sheet metal which is not too strong. Jeep has never really offered and good roll over protection on those older models. At least the newer models have side impact airbags. They should come with a factory installed roll cage. When you take the doors and roof off there is not much protection left.
