Eureka Wants You to Celebrate Halloween Safely
This is a press release from the City of Eureka:
The City of Eureka urges community residents and organizations to take steps to limit exposure to COVID-19 while celebrating Halloween. The City of Eureka is awaiting county guidelines on Halloween festivities. In the meantime, there are several safe, alternative ways to participate in Halloween per the CDC that can be shared at this time.
The City of Eureka is offering two Halloween events for the community that have been approved by the Humboldt County Department of Public Health through a reopening plan:
The Pumpkin Hunt
Join us for a spooky fun time for a pumpkin scavenger hunt in our local parks on October 31st 11am-3pm. You can visit Sequoia Park, Cooper Gulch, or 20/30 Park for kids 12 and under. Please limit your experience to one park. We ask that you wear a mask, social distance, and come during the following times per your child’s age: 0-6 years old (11am-12:30pm), 7-9 years old (12:30pm-2pm), and 10-12 years old (2pm-3:30pm).
Boo at the Zoo
Zoo Members are invited to reserve their spot beginning on October 15th for a spooky stroll around the Zoo on October 31st from 3pm-6pm. We just ask that you wear a mask and social distance. To become a Zoo Member, visit: www.sequoiaparkzoo.net/membership.
Additional Family-Friendly Halloween-in-Quarantine Activities
Traditional trick-or-treating is a high-risk activity and not recommended this year. Below is a list of low-risk ideas:
•Carve or decorate pumpkins with members of your household. Then, display them.
•Have a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt in your home or yard
•Host virtual costume contest/parade over Zoom with friends
•Create Halloween crafts to decorate with

Not sorry to see the virus has affected celebrating the devil’s holiday. Churches, weddings, funerals and actually important things have been all but shut down, so at least this is as well!
