Linda Robinson Piehl: ‘Spicy and colorful’

This section includes announcements of important events in our lives–births, graduations, engagements, marriages, and deaths. If you want to share an event with your community, please send a photo and a written piece to [email protected].

We mourn the loss of a beautiful woman, Linda Robinson Piehl, while we celebrate her life.

Linda Louise Robinson was born September 16, 1946 in Fullerton, California to Laura Louise Foster Robinson and Ernest Dale Robinson. She died October 7, 2020 in Southern California where she had been living with her daughter in Winnetka.

Linda was a loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She shared of herself to all of us. She loved her nephews like they were hers. She was so very proud of her daughter Jena and of her grand-daughter, Jae.

Linda loved the people of this community because of their caring nature. She relished the opportunity to take a position at Redwoods Rural Health Center, and provided assistance to possibly thousands of people in need of medical help. She would assist with qualification requirements that, ultimately, enabled many to receive affordable care. She was able, through the community, to help with critical meal vouchers, temporary lodging, and caring conversation. Linda loved to be of assistance and give a helping hand.

Linda was kind and caring yet also spicy and colorful. Her laughter was contagious and her sense of humor was great. Her fashion taste for clothes, jewelry, and hair was like none other and if she liked what you had, she’d say, “That’s hot.”

Linda’s passing has left many heartbroken. She was always supposed to be here. No one else could lift your spirits like she did when you were down or let you know you were pushing it with just a look.

Caring for others came naturally for her whether at work or not. She always knew what to do to ensure no one went without.

October was one of her favorite months because she loved to see all the costumes but also because scary movies were always on TV and those were her favorite.

Anything and everything Jena and Jae did made Linda proud. She loved telling others about their accomplishments and talking about them in general. Moving to SoCal from Humboldt was extremely difficult for Linda but being able to see Jena and Jae everyday was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up.

She is survived by her daughter Jena Lionello Fischer and granddaughter, Jae, her daughter’s partner Ricardo Fischer and his two daughters, Catalina and Gabriella. Also surviving her are her two sisters, Donna Robinson and Charlene Smith and their sons, Kevin, Robert, Jim and Scott as well as their children–Brandi, Clay, Quinn, Johnny Ray, and Malachi Church and Emma and Madalyn Pecora-Smith. Other family who will miss her include cousins, Chuck and Mary Carillo and Melinda and John Ice.

We, her family and friends, are so very proud of Linda. Her caring ways have left this world a better place for her having been here.

Because of COVID-19, there won’t be a memorial at this time.

I’m very sad to hear of Linda’s passing, Linda was a jewel, a kind loving caring person, with a heart of gold. The world needs more of her kindness. She’s a hard act to follow, but I will hold her memory in my heart and continue to do the best I can, in honor of Linda, one day at a time. Thank You Linda for your Service. My deepest condolences to the family. ❤️🙏🏼

Linda was a terrific advocate and loving spirit for the kind people of southern Humboldt. I had the pleasure of getting to know Linda through her work on the Children’s Health Initiative. She was so smart and brought a lot of light to the room. My sincere condolences to Linda’s family. Know that Linda truly made a difference in the lives of those around her, one day at a time.

Linda was what my Mom would call a “hoot.” She was never, ever boring and her laugh just caught you up in whatever frivolity she was up to. As you said, she had a beautiful heart and will be remembered for all of her kindnesses. God bless you, Linda.
