Don’t Paint Your Getaway Car Pink: CHP and Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies Nab Couple Wanted Out of Washington State for Kidnapping and Murder of 31-Year-Old Woman
Yesterday afternoon, a pink car out of gas and a helpful Garberville based CHP officer led to the arrest of a couple wanted for the kidnapping and murder of 31-year-old Rachell Rene Roberts whose body was located on October 2, 2020 off of U.S. Forest Service Road 24, near the intersection with Hwy 119, in the Lake Cushman area in Mason County, Washington.
According to CHP Sgt. Matt Harvey, officers in the Humboldt County had been alerted Saturday morning that 28-year-old Kylie Kadeen Craig and 37-year-old Mathew Collett who were suspected in the death of Roberts were believed to be in the area.
“About 12:15 [in the afternoon] an officer was traveling northbound on Redwood Drive and saw this spray painted black and pink Hyundai with hazard lights on,” Sgt. Harvey told us. The officer saw a woman walking away from the vehicle. “She explained she was out of gas,” Harvey said. The officer saw that there were Oregon plates on the vehicle.

“[The woman] had initially given the officer a false name,” Harvey explained. But a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy arrived on the scene with more information. “That was really helpful in identifying her,” the Sergeant said.
Harvey said he began working with the Mason Sheriff’s Department. The vehicle was towed for evidence. And, about 6 p.m. though we don’t yet know the details, according to Humboldt County Jail records, Mathew Collett was arrested by Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies.

On October 8, the Mason County Sheriff’s Department explained on their Facebook page,
Over the past week, members of the MCSO, WSP and the FBI have been diligently investigating this homicide. The investigation to this point has provided evidence which led to the MCSO requesting two arrest warrants for Murder and Kidnapping for;
1) Mathew Collett, white male, 37 yoa, 5’09”, 180, blue eyes, and bald
2) Kylie Kadeen Craig, white female, 28 yoa, 5’03”, 180, brown eyes and brownish/blond hair Associated Vehicle: WA/BTX1364, 2013Hyundia Elantra, REDThe Mason County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the assistance from the public with locating these two suspects.
DO NOT CONFRONT THESE SUSPECTS. THEY ARE CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS.
Today, the Sheriff’s Office announced the two were captured in Humboldt County.

I lived in Humboldt for over 30 years. I never passed thru.
I left Mason County when I finished high school in 1961 and moved to southern Humboldt. Shelton was a great place to grow up. My friends gave me a heads up to watch for an arrest in a WA warrant.

All these folks have that look of instability and despair behind their eyes. Ive seen it before in the girl at the bolwing alley and the guy delivering my soil. you can tell after an experience of two. Theres a loose screw or a nervous tick just waiting to trigger the next irrational decision.
Maybe this sounds callous but the victim has that same strung-out look, with an attempt to cover it for her selfies.
The victims own FB page has some quite cryptic messages just days before her murder. Almost reads like she’s hurting from a bad breakup. Perhaps this little tRt of a killer was a new girlfriend and her man is the ex and wanted her gone? Pure speculation of course.

If the sighting on Forest Service 1 (Horse Mountain, South Fork Ridge, etc.) is any indication, taking isolated backroads and only coming into populated areas for fuel. They miscalculated their fuel stop and got caught as a result.
Apparently the Mason County Sheriff described it as:

It was neither pink nor using that plate number (I assume, saying the car had OR plates from a Toyota).
They started with a couple u-hauls, dumped them and got the Hyundai on Oregon. But given the number of shitboxes on wheels here it can almost blend in.

First off my heart goes out to this beautiful young lady who.did not deserve to have her life taken from her. I have been a victim behind that monsters Hands for 8 long years and when I tell you I’m lucky to be alive I truly am as are my children’s lives. They courts failed me several times in WA when I fled to SC with our children where he followed years later with his then wife the mistress. He hurt my kids his wife’s kids and both of us. SC kept him in 2 yrs and released the sob back into society where then he went to start havoc back in WA where we are from. Let’s pray that our damn court system can make it right this time around cause if they had done there jobs this young lady would be alive others wouldnt have had to be in fear including my kids and my self. I will not stop until he is gone forever and I never have to run or look over my shoulder ever again. Thank you to everyone on this case that pulled together spread it like wildfire and the brave officers that apprehended both of the pos. Mathew Collett I hope you rot in hell forever I hope someone ends your life. Our children will never ever have to see the abuse and torture ever again. You are pure evil and we will heal. As for Rachell RIP sweet I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart. To her family I wish I could have done more to save her. I cant help but feel so damn guilty it should have me and not her and I’m sorry for that I haven’t stopped praying for all of you havent stopped thinking about it all rest assured I wont stop till hes away this time for good and my family wont either. I saw this car behind grocery outlet!!! I took pictures of it too. The timestamps show that they were painting it black and it was originally pink since i took a pic before i went in and when i got out. But in the article its all pink? Maybe they repainted it pink? I surely didnt see them after they got caught considering they were in jail.
