Humboldt County Moves Up to Yellow Tier Which Will Allow for Some Relaxing of Strict COVID Measures

humboldt covidPress release from the County of Humboldt:

Many local businesses and organizations can now expand services and increase occupancy and capacity limits after the California Department of Public Health moved Humboldt County into the least restrictive “yellow” tier under the state’s “Blueprint for a Safer Economy.”

Humboldt is the largest of the seven California counties to have achieved yellow tier status.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said this improvement is a result of county residents practicing COVID-19 safety measures and the work of Public Health and Emergency Operations Center response staff. “Living through and navigating this global pandemic has required herculean efforts from our entire community,” she said. “We could not have gotten here if not for this community’s commitment to the health and safety of our friends and neighbors.”

Tier assignments are based on a county’s COVID-19 case count and positivity rate. Local case and positivity rates are 2.0 and 1.5 respectively.

Humboldt was the only county to meet the state’s Health Equity Metric, which is intended to ensure that no population group is disproportionally impacted by COVID-19. Meeting this metric allowed the county to move into yellow even though its case rate remains in the orange tier. Dr. Frankovich called this “great news” for the community but warned that it is important for everyone to be aware that an increase in case rate for two weeks will move the county back into a more restrictive tier. “If we want to stay in yellow, we all have to adhere to the safety measures that have helped get us here,” she said.

Specific changes to operations under the yellow tier include the following:

  • Shopping Centers — Common areas may open. Maintain reduced capacity in food courts.
  • Museums, Zoos and Aquariums — No capacity limit.
  • Places of Worship — Increased to 50% maximum capacity.
  • Movie Theatres — Increased to 50% maximum capacity.
  • Hotels and Lodging — Spa facilities may open. Fitness centers increased to 50% capacity.
  • Gyms and Fitness Centers — Saunas, spas and steam rooms may open at 50% capacity.
  • Restaurants — Increased to 50% maximum capacity.
  • Wineries — Increased to 50% maximum capacity or 200 people indoors, whichever is fewer.
  • Bars, Breweries and Distilleries (where no meal is provided) — May operate indoors with modifications and 50% maximum capacity.
  • Family Entertainment Centers — Increased to 50% maximum capacity. May operate activities that are naturally distanced and enjoyed by a single household unit such as bowling, climbing walls and escape rooms.
    • Ice and roller skating rinks, bounce houses and ball pits are not allowed currently as the state has not yet released guidance for Indoor Recreation.
  • Cardrooms, Satellite Wagering — Increased to 50% maximum capacity.

Bars, breweries and distilleries are urged to use caution when resuming indoor operations. Local data places the county right on the edge of the yellow tier. If the county moved back to orange, the state would require these businesses to move outdoors again.

“It’s taken all of us working together to achieve this success, but it wouldn’t take much to move us backward,” Dr. Frankovich said. “Let’s all remain committed to protecting our community’s health and economy by following commonsense safety measures like physical distancing, wearing facial coverings and avoiding gathering with those who live outside of your household unit.”

It’s not open until we don’t have to wear masks.

Sorry, but I’m not supporting your business until you stand up to this bullshit. Every purchase I make now is all Amazon, EBay, Etsy, etc., online orders. If every single local business goes out of business, well you let it happen. But hey, that’s what the people in control want, they don’t give a crap about our local businesses.

Sorry to tell you – but those Amazon employees and the UPS drivers that deliver those goods all wear masks.
So you aren’t really making a stand, your just not being very nice to your community and putting those tax dollars in your town.

The unintended negative consequences of loss of fundamental freedoms and the draconian economic suicide controls are devastating world wide .

End the lockdown on those statistically not at risk and focus protection on the minority that is at risk!

With what we now know about COVID, Scientists call for end of lockdown controls:

Based on latest US population figures it is estimated it will take 2.3 to 2.5 million deaths from Covid-19 to reach herd immunity in this country. Y’all ok with that ya freedom lovin’, maskless, Trumpian pimples on the ass of progress?

I’m a bit confused. If you go to the county dashboard it shows overall alert level 1 in green box. If scroll down there are 3 boxes all level 1 green. Spread, healthcare capacity and effectiveness of disease control. Where does the yellow come from?

Yellow is the color of the golden rain our beloved masters are spraying upon us through these delightful gifts of allowance!

It’s also the color of the showers that DJT prefers in Russia by highly paid escorts.

Just more government exercising jurisdiction over our freedoms.

Government was never meant to keep us safe from pathogens, it’s role is to protect our liberties.

If McConnell and Trump had passed the Dems recent proposal for stimulus much of the concern over jobs and businesses would be lessened greatly. Even the fed chair Powell thought it to be a good idea and doing nothing to be the worst thing we could do. This is exactly what a government is for, to ensure our safety and protect us in times of crisis. Instead our current administration is still giving lavishly to big business and the military while casting a blind eye to those who truly need help. Hopefully this will change soon.

On another note, the fact that the deadly mutated form of the virus has now disappeared, if this fall and flu season there is no new form or mutation of the disease that is truly considered dangerous, and the CFR continues to fall, then it will be time to say the worst is over and let things go back to normal. But the fear that it could mutate again into a more deadly form as the Spanish flu did at this time in it’s life cycle is still a serious concern. We’ll know soon enough.

No, and i should have said fall and winter, but by then we should have a good enough handle to cope with it like the flu. The first vaccines, protecting the most vulnerable, new meds coming out. The problem is that this thing has already mutated many times so we keep an eye. But we should be able to return to complete normalcy by March. (Yes I know my powers of prediction suck)

The only caveat is long term damage to heart, brain etc. That could be a game changer, making this thing a nightmare far into the future. Fingers crossed.

There’s another thing about the relation to the Spanish Flu. This is purely hypothetical but I’ve had this thought. The Spanish flu was also considered a novel first time ever virus. It may have popped up many years before briefly, but the 1918 version is really it’s maiden voyage. Since then H1N1 has been a staple in the flu market.

So let’s picture it as the mothership, the prototype, a new lifeform that is trying to adapt and change so it can survive. Prototype’s are where you work the bugs out and boy did that one have some bugs to work out. But then a year later it got into it’s groove to become what it is now.

The covid coronavirus is no different. It too is a mothership, prototype. And it too may have many bugs to work out yet. We still need to keep an open mind about it. Keep it under lock and key as much as we can till we know what this babys up to. Once again by March should be enough time.

Look around 👀 Obvious facts show we are very early in this pandemic and struggling ,actually as Americans we seem to be getting decimated.

Our daily update is published. States reported 851k tests, 51k cases, and 916 deaths. Montana and South Dakota both hit record high COVID-19 case counts today.

We obviously hoped this day wouldn’t come, but unfortunately Wisconsin is in a much different and more dire place today and our health care systems are being overwhelmed,” Evers said during a news briefing.

Over the past month, the state’s COVID-19 hospitalizations have nearly tripled — from just 289 Sept. 7 to 853 as of Tuesday — officials said. This week alone, statewide hospitalizations have increased 26% compared to last week and the number of patients in intensive care units has increased 27% since last week. In the Fox Valley, northeast, and southeast regions of the state, hospitals are operating at or above 90% of their ICU capacity, state Department of Health Services Secretary-designee Andrea Palm said.

For the US to be decimated, over 32 million would have to die. Is that really where you think Covid is headed?
