To Date, 302 Structures Destroyed in Southern Trinity County by August Complex; More Expected
To date, the August Complex has been documented to have destroyed 302 structures, including 127 residences and 175 outbuildings, in Southern Trinity County. Due to active fire behavior, evacuation orders, and present safety issues such as fire debris and fallen trees, many areas continue to be inaccessible for further evaluation. The number of damaged or destroyed structures is expected to increase, as these dangers are mitigated and further evaluation can occur.
At this time, Trinity County Environmental Health is urging the public, as evacuation orders lift, to use extreme caution. Any handling of fire debris is highly discouraged, as handling/sifting of fire debris and ash can be extremely hazardous to human health and the environment. Please note that this debris cannot be taken to local solid waste facilities, and has to be removed properly with demolition permits and hazardous waste evaluations. Trinity County has requested fire debris removal assistance from the state and will keep the public updated with this effort.
Families searching for loved ones who have evacuated due to fires can contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-Red-Cross (1-800-733-2767) or go to safeandwell.org. Evacuees can register and post a brief message for family members who are searching for them.

Is it even possible to breathe within Trinity County today?
//Any handling of fire debris is highly discouraged, as handling/sifting of fire debris and ash can be extremely hazardous to human health and the environment. //
The smoke carries the microscopic particles directly into our lungs Same as the covid-19. Do they mingle along the way? Yes.
Now we enjoy a cocktail of mutated disease. What you gonna breathe?
A meeting Aug 6?
Yea, devastating. Blessings to all in Southern Trinity…..Heavy equipment coming as soon as the recovery people are done. I will say locals are amazing especially the ones who break their leg and refuse to rest, be safe dude we need you.
Chad? He’s amazing.
lol, yes, I was tryin to be discreet.
Yikes, I’m planning on writing about him. That’s fairly indiscreet…
Please, he deserves it and I know he is modest but no better person to represent our community. I look forward to your post, blessings Kym, wish HSU would do you right and nominate you for a Peabody. We are all very grateful for your dedication in providing such a great resource. Thank You!
second that
Looking at that picture really hurts. I feel so very sorry for all the folks that have lost their homes to this August Complex fire. I can only imagine how sickening and heart breaking it must be to see your whole world burned flat. I pray for all the lives lost in the fires. May they all RIP. God bless.
What a tragic loss, so sorry for all you’re going through.
I was informed by a calfire wife that we are NOT to do any cleanup! Fema will still clean up hazardous waste but will send you a big bill! I heard this from several people but she verified it. I lost everything but what little I threw into my truck. Anxious to get busy and try to get back to normal! But we must be patient. Thank the lord my kids house is still there! (So far!) Hang in there everyone! We will overcome this, I for one will trust in jesus!
J.D.- Put up a beautiful big camping tent. When the rains come, cover your camp area with rebar, hoops, & plastic … Make it cozy and comfy. Get a really comfy bed and some nice sheets, pillows & a fluffy quilt . (Maybe a teddy bear?) Look up glampsites, and get a grass type rug for your entrance. And maybe even a plant or 2. Create a simple, easily created, outdoor shower. This will go a long way to making you feel empowered to rebuild your life. Tent living is highly underrated! You will have your own space & that’s a great comfort. Then, next is a simple outdoor kitchen& eating area, made from things ppl can give to you, like hay bales& plywood for a big table. A coupla coolers , a pot & a pan… Try to make it only one day at a time. I think a lot of blessings will come your way. All kinds of foods taste great in a big tortilla, even peanut butter & jelly. Plant some 2gallon pots with lettuce, kale. Onions…, then all you need is cheese & tortillas & you are eating well! I hope you will, in time, end up gaining more than you have lost. As Jesus said, “Seek ye first, the kingdom of God, and all else will be given unto you.” (Please, trolls, let this one go…it’s not about you.) Love to all!
Beautiful.
Thanks for the mental journey to simplicity and the basics.
I have a feeling we are all going to be heading a much simpler life.
Peace
Jim so sorry to hear you lost your place, we lost 2 cabins an 6 outbuildings on longridge…. stay strong as you can… thinkin of you!
