One Seriously Injured in Roadside Robbery Near Shelter Cove
Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On Sept. 30, 2020, at about 5:30 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a large pull out in the area of Shelter Cove Road and Paradise Ridge Road near Whitethorn for the report of a robbery victim discovered on the roadside.
Local firefighters traveling in the area reportedly discovered the 45-year-old male victim lying on the ground near a lumber truck, bound with zip-ties and seriously injured. The firefighters assisted in freeing the victim from his bondage and called law enforcement for assistance. The victim was transported to an out of area hospital where he is currently in critical but stable condition.
Upon further investigation, deputies learned that the victim is a local lumber delivery worker and had stopped briefly in the area while in between deliveries when he was reportedly approached by three or more men. The men reportedly physically assaulted the victim and stole an undisclosed amount of money from inside the victim’s truck.
The suspects are only described as Spanish-speaking Hispanic male adults possibly associated with a newer-model white Toyota Tacoma and an older-model green Chevy truck. The suspects left the area in an unknown direction of travel prior to the victim being located.
This case is still under investigation.

I’ve noticed our fellow statesmen and women from the southern half of the state have been increasing moving to this community to partake in the many industries we have here. You know, growing weed, selling meth, trafficking people, hwy robbery, ect. I’m glad that legalization has opened up more room for diversity in the industry and has lowered some of the barriers to entry for minorities. Ray’s looked like Home Depot today with many amigos holding up the wall eager to work. I look forward to learning some arid climate farming techniques. and endless pure spring water.

This incident has nothing to do with Antifa. All kind of people come to Humboldt. Many are desperate for a variety of reasons. There are plenty of locals over the decades who have behaved equally and/or worse. Just the same they’re going to take it in the neck.

I was shopping at 101 Root Nursery In Garberville on 6-26-20 , 12:13 p.m. and there was three males and one female young adults Hispanic speaking driving a newer white Tacoma four door 4×4 . I think for sure on this date if not it was possibly a week later or so on another trip I made to that store. There are a lot of white Tacoma’s and Hispanic speaking people also but it kinda fits the description.
