Governor Newsom Declares State of Emergency in Del Norte, Los Angeles and Mendocino Counties, Signs Order to Support Communities Impacted by Wildfires

Seal of the Governor of CaliforniaPress release from the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom:

Governor Gavin Newsom today issued an emergency proclamation for the counties of Del Norte, Los Angeles and Mendocino to bolster the response to various fires which have burned thousands of acres, destroyed homes and caused the evacuation of residents.

The Governor also signed an executive order to streamline recovery efforts in communities across the state impacted by devastating fires. The order extends the state’s prohibition on price gouging in impacted counties through March 25, 2021; extends the deadline for impacted residents to file a claim for property tax postponement; and directs the Franchise Tax Board, Board of Equalization, Department of Tax and Fee Administration and the Office of Tax Appeals to provide extensions to impacted residents and businesses for filing, audits, billing, notices and assessments, among other provisions.

In addition, the order expedites debris removal and cleanup of hazardous waste resulting from the fires, and allows the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide mutual aid supplementing the state’s efforts.

What? No emergency declaration for Humboldt?
Go figure.
There were any least 5 individuals that thought they were entitled to it. For what?
With no fires in Humboldt, I thought it was an inappropriate request.
Maybe worse.
Misrepresentation?
Wishful thinking?
Mighty presumptuous?
Humboldt was lucky enough the fires didn’t reach them.
To stick their hands out like it did reflects poorly on them.
They got their answer.
How embarrassing.

Wow he granted more time to pay your bills. And I don’t understand what exactly this does to help the people. No price gauging ? We already get gauged on everything in the emerald triangle. I bet the state gets money out of this but the people wont see anything. Thanks for nothing Gruesome Newsome. Go let more criminals run free.

Maybe he can declare a state of emergency because the criminals in our state keep getting let out of jail and get out and commit more crimes because they dont get in trouble.

Well at least we won’t be able to buy internal combustion cars in 15 years. I also hope he signed the executive order to Outlaw gas powered yard equipment, so I’ll have to drag my generator behind me to run a fucking chainsaw to cut firewood with, lol. Of course he’ll probably Outlaw generators to, then I’ll need about 10 solar panels, and 6 L 16 for the electric saw… I wonder how many cords of wood I can get in a Chevy Volt LMFA0

15 years is a long time from now. Things will look pretty different then. And if you haven’t tried a lithium ion powered chainsaw, you might give it a shot. It’s nice to not have to store a volatile fuel in your garage.

We have 7 years 95 days to slow climate change. What would take millions of years to occur naturally, is taking only hundreds because of human greed. Animals can’t adapt at this rate, so humans must.

CA wildfires are releasing smoke into the atmosphere at incredible rates. What amount of behavioral change do you suppose will be required to offset this absolutely massive amount of carbon? How far back have green efforts been set—years or decades? (Maybe we lost seven years and now only have the 95 days?)

There is a difference between climate change and anthropomorphic climate change. NASA says that all of the inner planets are heating up but that never enters into the climate equations. James Burke taught us that when global carbon increases, the oceanic phytoplankton blooms, restoring the balance of oxygen. How can we be certain that global warming is truly the end of the world as the bandwagon loudly insists, rather than just another natural pendulum swing in the grand scheme of things?

Personally, I am inclined to be skeptical of this new religion which preaches dystopian fear. I’m much more concerned with pollution (especially of the oceans), the effects of extra-solar radiation, and fluctuations in Earth’s albedo (reflectivity) than I am with fireplaces and motor vehicle fuel-combustion.

I don’t know for certain. I just can’t give in to fear. I’d rather go out loving my fellow humans and all God’s critters and keep on keeping up that vibe. Peace & love!
