One New Case of Covid Reported Today, September 23; With Four Hospitalized, Health Care Capacity Alert Level Moves Up to Yellow

Press release from Humboldt County COVID19 – Joint Information Center:Humboldt COunty COVID-19 Information

One new case of COVID-19 was reported today, bringing to 490 the total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus.

On Tuesday, the Health Care System Capacity alert level, one of three categories that indicate the county’s capacity to respond to and manage an increase in COVID-19 cases, moved from green to yellow, due to a recent increase in COVID-19-related hospitalizations. All three categories in the overall Alert Level Assessment Tool now stand at level 2, or yellow.

There have been 30 hospitalizations since the pandemic began, seven of those in September alone.  Over the past week local hospitals reached an inpatient census of five COVID-19 patients, with four patients currently hospitalized in Humboldt County. Three individuals requiring inpatient care are under 60 years of age.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich continues to urge area residents to use all preventive measures at hand to continue limiting transmission of this virus.

“Health Care System Capacity describes trends in hospitalized COVID-19 patients, infections in health care workers and the availability of critical medical resources,” Dr. Frankovich said. “While our local health care system currently has good capacity to respond, it is important for us to remember that even when our overall case rates are lower than those in many areas of the state, we can still see an increase in hospitalizations. The move from green to yellow in our alert system signals the importance of the health care system in our COVID-19 response efforts.”

If you had read the piece you would have seen this “our local health care system currently has good capacity to respond.”
But no, you have to jump out there with ignorance, truly false “information”, and oppositional defiance disorder. YOU and people like you are why Humboldt is seeing a September spike. Stop complaining, get educated, and put your community ahead of your conspiracy theories.

Complaining is what happens when you pay for a education, these days, Elvis.

The few are consolidating power and control.

This is the biggest transfer of wealth on record.

The Few Control the Many, by a staying silent.

Just look around the world to see what the billionaire boys club has done to peaceful populationz.

China is not our ally, and anything we can do to prevent the power structure from shoving a Chinese style of societal control down our throats is probably a good start.

No really….all these people rioting right now used to have jobs…and lives. But we sent the working class jobs, the backbone of society, to support Slave Wage China instead of American Families. Free Trade is a conspiracy, and it’s making the Global Capitalist rich, and draining our country of the livelihoods that made America great….Just say no to China Joe….unless you want the whole country to be a violent mess of people without the means to a productive life …like Chicago and all the other democrat run shitholes…

Thats 4 fellow human beings in the hospital. 4 fellow community members, wtf is wrong with you? Learn some freaking compassion and empathy. Politicizing this virus was the bullshit route to go down, and we fucking barreled down that path. 4 human beings are in the hospital, how many are dead? Don’t be a shitty human being. Learn to look at things outside your obvious very narrowed view of this world, and its people…….cept pedos…fuck them.

holding government accountable is the whole reason for the constitution. You know, that “freedom” thing marines are supposedly fighting for. People died driving today. Does that mean you shouldnt be able to drive? There is risk in living, not everyone has had the same full life you had, many would like to have that opportunity even if it means taking risks. Anyone that thinks bringing up the constitution regarding mandatory lockdowns, the state deciding who is “essential” basically destroying a large portion of small businesses and deciding that tests with verified false positives can determine what liberties a person might have is “politicizing” the matter is living what many not too long ago would have believed was a dystopian scifi novel. In deciding what is essential you have allowed your fellow men/women be designated as “not essential”. The daily news isnt telling you how your compliance is hurting others less fortunate than you but be assured that it is.

Can you ungarble that gibberish you just vomited out please? First of all Freedom is obtained by people willing to sacrifice it AND also non lazy non ignorant ill informed voters willing to make informed votes. Btw my straight up view is both sides of the political aisle are bullshit. From the Democrats to the Republicans. I haven’t allowed crap to happen other then further the war machine. but since then have looked at everything from a non prefiltered view now. I served, and i also take a non emotional logical well informed neutral stance stance on everything. Because trust me ive seen what people you are supposed to trust can do, and its not always in OUR best interest. You however are subverting out democracy, by blinding following and throwing out talking points that are designed to distract and divide the real issues with out society. Mainly we stopped giving a fuck about each other. We became weak and lazy, stopped voting, and now the powers that be can just run right over us due to our apathy. Let me ask you nevertrustacop..what have you done to better our country and its citizen’s lately besides spouting gibberish on message boards?

Well im glad to hear you think both sides of the aisle are bs, cuz well they are. I cant say that “furthering the war machine” sets the bar very high for helping out our neighbor buy hey, in a way you tried and hopefully you are wiser for it. I do not boast the be a great blessing on my community but i think i am a valuable contributor just like you. I have definitely done things like serve food for free with people at times but that has not been the case in some time, and like many here, these days i prefer to be away from crowds more than in them. Lastly, this is a constitutional republic not a democracy or “dictatorship of the 51%”

Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on whats for dinner

Absolutely. In 1776 our Nation’s forfathers fought for the future generations to cancel an election so that we might permanently place a strong man celebrity in office because he was chosen by God.

There is no difference.

No it isn’t. Republic details limits to authority even democracy. Just because the voters want to take an action, they can’t not choose to violate someone’s rights to do it. In a straight forward democracy, there are no rights- the people can do everything they want. And as a constitutional republic, the Constitution details what are rights that can’t be violated then goes on to say that other than what is listed, the people reserve the power to themselves.

What happens when the infection rate is a small percentage of the population for months on end? Are we going to have an anniversary of the start of the pandemic? That looks pretty certain.
Then a ten year anniversary with social distancing having become standard behavior? It’s not as if these deaths are prevented for all the agonizing over them. As of yet there is no preventative other than endless public health orders. It’s not that deaths will be prevented at all. And only delayed at great cost, until most people have slowly stopped paying attention to the orders.

Heres some more good read. Basically it’s saying what we already know. Covid continues to mutate. First there was one, then two, then three……..

This is why you prepare for the future and stop wasting time trying to reinvent the past.

https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Massive-genetic-study-shows-coronavirus-mutating-15591725.php

“Massive Genetic Study Shows Coronavirus Mutating And Potentially Evolving Amid Rapid U.S. Spread”

The only thing they got wrong was not acknowledging the severity of the first mutation when it first appeared in Italy. Covid is like a thinking alien, changing as it tries to dominate. We’ll figure out how and where it started later.

Right now it is the enemy and not the people trying to make people aware. Fauci is ridiculed daily by ignorant assholes for telling the truth. If this thing peters out in the next few months hallelujah. But there is also the potential for it to do a Spanish Flu type backdoor crime spree. Until we know for sure what way it’s going I’m gonna keep on tracking. We have an enemy in our midst that must be dealt with, or as the author of the study states;

“But every mutation is a roll of the dice, and with transmission so widespread in the United States – which continues to see tens of thousands of new, confirmed infections daily – the virus has had abundant opportunities to change, potentially with troublesome consequences” (James Musser of Houston Methodist Hospital).

You sure like to take things out of context Ullr. Im gonna have to start passing on your comments. Waste of time.

What you have posted is a study on modeling. It has nothing to do with the actual CFR (case fatality ratio). Or as one of the parts you conveniently left out states;

Are estimates intended to support public health preparedness and planning.
Are not predictions of the expected effects of COVID-19.
Do not reflect the impact of any behavioral changes, social distancing, or other interventions.

If you’re truly interested, which I doubt you are, the actual current CFR according to JHU (you know, experts who know what they are talking about and don’t cherry pick info to make their case and themselves look smart).

Actually this is a few days ago. If you want todays figures do it yourself at https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

Isn’t that the same old debate? That first they count those who have been tested positive then, from that group, count those who have died. This eliminates anyone who has not tested positive, which is most people by far. So among the whole population, far less than 2.94 % die or will ever die from SARS-COV-2 because the largest percentage will never be sick enough to get tested. If what you say was true, Humboldt County , with its population of 130,000 can expect over 3000 deaths from it. Or expect 28 deaths per week for a two year pandemic if 2.94% everyone who contracts the virus dies from it.

You best hope that your understanding is not correct because sooner or later, no matter how many orders are in place, pretty much everyone will be infected. That is the nature of an infectious disease- it infects.

So now CDC modeling is invalid because it doesn’t fit the hysterical narrative? Should we go back to the old modeling where 2.2 million were going to die in the US. Does that make you feel better?

The current CFR is invalid. It has been invalid since the get go and every statistician has known as much because of limited data sets. This current CDC modeling ‘should’ be the most accurate to date with the largest data set.

It’s like a whole group of people want this to be really bad and are disappointed when stats show otherwise.

That cuts in both directions- whether they resent people ignoring public health mandates or resent being forced by them. As usual the best results are not at either extreme. This pandemic is serious, not as serious as the 1918 flu or even the 1967 Hong Kong flu but certainly worse than the swine flu. Too bad that people can simply accept that behavior guided by the extremists is never going to work well and that perfect responses are not going to exist.

I thought the grim warning was that we would hit 200,000 deaths. Do the math on 380,000,000 US citizens times even 1/10 of a percent fatality rate.

Does redwood arces still have 100 beds available? Cause with 4 cases in the hospital, this is the closest this pandemic has been to overloading our hospitals. This pandemic is crazy, I never thought I’d see 4 people at once in the hospital with covid. Last November they had hundreds in the local hospitals with the flu. But this is wayyyyyy worse , 4 .

well the good thing about this drive to isolate people from the disease is that it will do the same for the flu so fewer will die from it too. We’ll just have to do our dying the old fashioned way- murder, traffic accidents, strokes, heart disease, cancer, etc.
