Dance and Movement Class for Youth in Kindergarten Through Fifth Grade, Beginning Friday, September 25

The Arcata Recreation Division is excited to offer an Introduction to Dance and Movement Class for youth in Kindergarten through fifth grade, beginning Friday, September 25.

Dance Camp Director, Carmella Reed, will introduce young dancers to a wide variety of dance genres, movement games and activities, with plenty of space to get moving and grooving while staying socially distanced. No dance experience is necessary to participate.

Two classes will be offered, based on school grade levels, at the Judo Hut, located next to 736 F Street near the Arcata Ball Park, every Friday for five weeks, beginning on Friday, September 25 through Friday, October 23. Kindergartners though second graders can sign up for class from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m., and class for third to fifth graders will take place from 4 to 5:15 p.m. Participation fees are $60 for Arcata residents and $72 for non-residents.

This class has been certified by Humboldt County’s Emergency Operations Center, and precautions will be in place to ensure compliance with State and County COVID-19 health and safety regulations. Class space is limited to six students per class, face coverings, physical distancing and other health and safety protocols are required for all staff and participants, and additional time will be taken for wellness screenings. Families who have traveled, had visitors from out of the area or possibly been exposed to COVID-19 must wait 14 days before attending.
