Four New Cases; More Than 30 Infected From SoHum Gathering in Late August

Press release from Humboldt County COVID19 – Joint Information Center:novel coronavirus Covid-19 Humboldt

Four new cases of COVID-19 were reported today, bringing to 489 the total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said that more than 30 positive COVID-19 cases have now been tied to a large gathering in late August. There were initially 22 cases directly connected to this event that was characterized as a party of approximately 50 individuals from different households and outside the area.

Dr. Frankovich emphasized that while socializing within your household is safest, if people choose to gather, smaller groups and outdoor settings with physical distancing measures make gathering safer. If food is part of the gathering, it is safest for people to bring their own rather than sharing.

“Gatherings are a driver of infections across the state,” Dr. Frankovich said. “You can’t predict in advance which gatherings are going to be super spreader events, and so the safest thing is to not hold them at all.”

Today’s alert level stands at two or level yellow. Visit humboldtgov.org/dashboard to view the county’s Alert Level Assessment tool.

For the most recent COVID-19 information, visit cdc.gov or cdph.ca.gov. Local information is available at humboldtgov.org or during business hours by contacting [email protected] or calling 707-441-5000.

Maybe it doesn’t kill any more than the flu, but it leaves many who get it damaged for life with lung damage, strokes, blood clots, muscle damage, etc. At levels way above the flu. But you neocons hate to admit that..

Bullshit. Those numbers have been proven to be false time and time again. How can anyone be so foolish as to believe them?

Besides the fact that the CDC said everyone in the world would be infected by last Thanksgiving, and 75 million+ would be dead by Christmas. I’d say, after eleven months, if we only have 200,000 dead, that’s pretty God damned good.

It’s pretty obvious that this is not just just about a flu virus.

The lockdown is overkill and the Constitution is getting tested for all those communist /socialist sympathizers who don’t realize what is going to happen when they realize that they have been used as pawns in a much larger game.

Not sure what your getting at ‘Tired or lid…’ but you make no sense. Get educted in what you speak on, because you are coming across as a fool. Talk to a ER nurse, talk to a recovering Covid patient, talk to someone who has lost a love one while not allowed to see them as they died, oh and try to form a cognitive sentence when speaking to a group. Tell that to the more than 200,000 families that lost someone to it. Even fk face who espoused similarly publically in the first months admitted it was a killer recorded by Bob Woodward behind closed doors. Basically he murdered all those folks. Either you are stupid or malicious which is it? to be so far off the mark is scary for anyone within a few meters of you at any time. Stay out of me face.

There is no threat so great to put our Constitutional rights on hold , for a non elected group of people to subvert the freedoms of healthy people.

https://www.seyfarth.com/news-insights/Federal-Judge-Rules-PA-COVID-Shutdown-Orders-Unconstitutional-Governor-Plans-to-Appeal.html

“On Monday, September 14, 2020, a federal judge in the Western District of Pennsylvania held that significant portions of Governor Wolf’s COVID-19 related shutdown orders were unconstitutional. Importantly, the Court’s ruling struck down orders directed at both “First Amendment” activity, and at restricting the business activities of “non-life-sustaining” businesses. The Court recognized that Governor Wolf’s actions were “undertaken with the good intention of addressing a public health emergency.” Nevertheless, the Court ruled, “even in an emergency, the authority of government is not unfettered. The liberties protected by the Constitution are not fair-weather freedoms — in place when times are good but able to be cast aside in times of trouble.”

A judge finally used the Constitution to determine the actions of the government were unlawful in the state of Pennsylvania, and most likely everywhere else.

How refreshing .

My premise is that there are too many places in the world where they have no First Amendment to peacefully protest actions by their respective governments.

People are being jailed, fined, and their human rights suppressed, in UK, Canada, Australia, and we are hearing of the coming vaccinations, ramdom blood draws, and a contact tracing army looking for a way to remain viable in an economy ruined by government agencies and by the UN, and WHO.

I love my freedom and my Family’s sacrifice over the centuries to fight against overbearing and unjust action against the common people.

My premise is that your poor health shouldn’t infringe on my ability to work, or travel, or recreate.

My biology is mine, like my privacy. There is no jurisdiction over my DNA, and any attempt to forcibly mandate an experimental drug, will be met with …”No thanks.”

And maybe they shouldn’t anyway. I dunno, I’m just tired of the polarization, the taking sides, the “you’re with us or you’re against us” approach. Guess I took too much acid back in the 60’s, I just can’t get behind any of the rhetoric or the bombastic shouting of the latest brand of political memecraft, or the newest way to say “You’re wrong, I hate you!”
Rodney King said it back in those benighted days before Swiss Army phones:
“Can’t we all just get along?” The voice of someone struggling with his personal purgatory, suddenly thrust onto the international stage and his own 15 minutes of eversotransient fame.
Sure, we can get along – but it takes faith in a higher truth and equality, it takes the patience to wait until the dust settles and everyone can see the simple things that are important to everyone: The love of our family, the peace when a day’s work is done, the confidence that our leaders want the best for us, but the ability to see error when it manifests itself, which in the course of human events, it always does.
I’m sixty-something so I wear a mask. I hate it, but I do it – look at China – how come they’re sailing through this mess and we are floundering? If you don’t wanna wear a mask, OK, no biggie. I’m more worried about tree pitch napalm than covid right now. Tomorrow, it may be different.
OK, so it’s an election year – I didn’t vote for Trump, but he’s my POTUS, so I’m listening. And the messages are not all bad. I’m cringing half the time, but I’m listening.
Right now, I feel that’s the best thing we can do – listen to each other, pause, reflect, and breathe, breathe. We’ll get through this multistoried annihilation device, but only if we work together. And trust me, I’m saying this for my own friends and family (and for myself!) as much as I’m saying this for you-all.
Let’s talk…..the throwing bombs thing didn’t work – been there, done that, so how about this: Here’s my opening gambit:
I promise to listen more, and to really try to make things better in this moment – how about you?
(Wavy Gravy singing “Basic Human Needs” in the BG as the screen fades to credits, Doctors Without Borders starting the lineup…)

“Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
Dizzy with eternity
Paint it with a skin of sky, brush in some clouds and sea
Call it home for you and me”
A somewhat well-known rock band from the 1960’s known as the “Grateful Dead”

Moo Cow those are nice thoughts. I probably would have been a hippie too if I lived in the 1960s, but I’m more concerned about the 2060s. Not much of anyone who has fully formed memories of the 1960s will be alive by then. So I hope you’ll forgive my urgency or occasional lack of civility as it’s borne of sincere concern that we’re already done as a society and/or planet by the 2060s or even sooner. Asking for civility is like asking me to look the other way as people continue to be oppressed and the planet continues to burn. And why? I just don’t feel much sympathy for comfortable old white people who are stressed out by words from strangers on the internet.

Doubt all you want. Most of the people getting tested are doing so because they are required to for various reasons, none of which have anything to do with being ill.

I was tested two weeks ago because I had a procedure scheduled at the hospital (it came back negative, of course).

Keep hopped up on vitamins and minerals! Fruits and veggies are your allies, as are immunity boosting plants. We can stay strong against this. Fear can too easily overwhelm your power to heal. Being reminded of death and illness is making people afraid, when honoring safety guidelines and keeping healthy can keep you happier!

This is our chance to wake up to the imperfect and beautiful people around us, to enjoy what we have now. Reach out to those you love! All we have is now ..

So true! Take care of yourselves and each other. I am not waiting for big daddy gov’t to do that for me. If i did, i’d be in pretty sad shape, as good diet– pure, wholesome food– and serene, unstressed attitudes are seldom, if ever, mentioned in gov’t policy– particularly absent in the COVID days– as ways to stay healthy, both in body and mind.
Thank you.

Yep, that’s the one thing missing from the government’s response to Covid — the fact that staying healthy is our best defense. Staying inside, wearing a mask when outside, depending on medications which suppress our immune systems (which it seems almost all medications do nowadays), worrying, living in fear — these all make us susceptible to all diseases.

My wife mentioned that she saw something about the flu season starting earlier this year than normal. Is it any wonder? People have spent almost the whole year wearing masks, social distancing, and disinfecting everything in sight — a guaranteed recipe for immune system failure.

But then, I’m preaching to the choir here, aren’t I?

Its nice to see more and more sane voices. Yes, vigilance is still very much required.

This is just a brief update about current worldwide conditions. I feel its important to know the trend. The situation worldwide is telling us that we need to buckle down and get ready for what is coming. Scientists had been praying for a slowdown over the summer but instead got a second wave in hot weather zones and an off the hook first wave in the southern hemi that had initially escaped the bug. That is the opposite of what was hoped for. Together it means that there has never been a slowdown worldwide at all. The world is still heading for the peak of the first wave if you look at the daily cases chart at JHU.

Right now we are faced with this reality. Fall is here. Flu season is slowing unfolding. The countries that border us, Mexico and Canada are going thru high numbers of cases and deaths. Mexico is running a CFR of 10+ and Canada is in the 7s. That is signs that the more deadly strain is still out there.

More importantly is what is happening in Europe. There the countries that were the hardest hit in spring are now experiencing an even worse surge than before while the CFR is still high, though coming down a bit. All of the above countries have extensive travel to and from the US.

Now is not the time to get complacent or try to prove conspiracy theories while ignoring the obvious. The odds are stacked against us now that we will see another surge this winter and no one knows what that entails. Be aware or beware.

The whole thing is a hoax that every country in the world participated in and was willing to have a large portion of it’s citizens die for and give up millions/billions/trillions in lost gdp for the cause?! Right…Sure… Let’s think that through a bit…

Some of us never got to decide if it was “real” or not because we were sick before our health officials acknowledged it was here. It’s not like it cares if you believe in it or not, you’re just an easier host for it if you don’t. And yes, six + months later chronic lung issues still. Never hospitalized, never died, but super screwed up from it. There is also increasing evidence of cardiac problems tied to even asymptomatic cases. Must be nice to have the luxury of believing in it or not. What a charmed life you must lead? Bless the healthcare workers that continue to toil in this dangerous environment. They continue to care for us all, yet still have to see Johnny & Jilly Ignoramus going around and continuing to make their jobs a little harder each day.

Drama induced Cardiac problems, I definitely believed that! There are millions of people panicked and stressed about the possibility of dying from COVID-19. All this spreading fear will have an ill affect on people, duhhhh. Now you know why no one ever talks about the hundreds of thousands that die from the flu. Cardiac deaths were already high, anxiety from COVID-19 drama will probably triple that number to over 5000 deaths in the US every day.
