CVS Flu Shot Event on September 23 at Humboldt Senior Resource Center

Press release from the Humboldt Senior Resource Center (HSRC) :

The Humboldt Senior Resource Center (HSRC) is partnering with CVS Pharmacy to provide a flu shot event on Wednesday, September 23, at our Eureka campus located at 1910 California Street.

CVS pharmacists and staff will be administering vaccines from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Weather permitting, the event will take place in the garden area and parking lot at the south side of the building.  Vaccine will be administered, in the order of arrival, to walk-up clients or car-side for those wishing to remain in their vehicles. Face coverings and physical distancing will be required at this event.

Those wishing to receive the vaccine should bring their identification and insurance card. Flu vaccines are covered at no cost to the recipients under most insurance plans.  Community members must be at least 3 years old to receive their flu vaccine at this event.  Reservations are not required to receive a flu shot.

According to Mary Gattuso with CVS, “With the ongoing health impacts of COVID-19 on local communities, CVS Health is reminding the public that it is more important than ever to stay current with vaccinations and other routine healthcare needs. By getting a flu shot this fall and taking other proactive measures to improve general health and immunity, individuals and families can protect themselves against seasonal flu, help safeguard the overall health of the community and minimize the impact on healthcare resources.”

In addition to the flu vaccine, the pharmacists from CVS can also provide additional vaccines including Tdap, MMR, pneumonia (both Prevnar 13 & Pneumovax 23), shingles, hepatitis A & B, and HPV at this event.  These vaccines must be reserved in advance and may not be covered at no cost under your insurance plan.  To find out more information regarding vaccine cost or to reserve an additional vaccine, contact Tina or Kerri at 442-0549.

I do hope more events are planned like this, and more than one days warning is given.
