Three New Cases Reported Since Friday

Press release from Humboldt County COVID19 – Joint Information Center:novel coronavirus Covid-19 Humboldt

Three new cases of COVID-19 have been reported since Friday, bringing to 485 the total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus.

The Humboldt County Data Dashboard now provides more information about cases by age. The 0-19 age group has been broken down into two categories, 0-9 and 10-19 years old. About 8 percent of the county’s cases have been in the 0-9 age group and nearly 12 percent have been in the 10-19 age group.

Other daily and weekly datasets on the Dashboard have been updated. Some highlights include:

The 20-29 age group represents the largest number of local cases at 23.5 percent.

Nearly 44 percent of local cases have been diagnosed in people under the age of 30.

The time it would take to double the county’s case count is now 50 days.

The county’s confirmed case rate is 362 per 100,000 residents. The state and national rates are more than five times higher at 1,949 and 2,070 cases respectively.

Today’s alert level stands at two or level yellow. Visit humboldtgov.org/dashboard to view the county’s Alert Level Assessment tool.

Looks like the 3 cases were in SoHum. It seems harder to manage all the corona realities, the fire realities, the winter coming…One Day at a Time One Day at a Time One day at a Time

Unfortunately it’s likely that the same request will be repeated in another 6 months.

“Well you know”….. It Seems like we have hit the “sporadic” level and we can now go to level 1!!! But wait that would take admitting that HSU or the other school openings or the weddings or the protesters or the lack of people wearing masks or the restaurants or church services or Labor Day were not “super spreader” events like Dr “um well you know” Frankovitch has prognosticated about for the better part of a year . The sky isn’t falling. If we all take personal responsibility for ourselves and are conscious of how we interact with others isn’t it just about time to move on from the day to day over the top fear mongering? Obviously the virus is here and may have serious implications for those at risk. Those people are the ones who need to be taking extra precautions. The shutdowns were supposed to buy us time to get our health care system ready for potential surges. If it ain’t ready now a year into this thing we’ll then it ain’t ever gonna be.

I wld say that the mask wearing and hand washing is working well. It’s not a lot to ask, wear a mask when you’re out. And to the essential workers who wear masks for hours at a time, we respect & thank you beyond measure. I know it can’t be easy, day after day. So, to all of you who only need to wear one when you are out& about, thank you also… You are helping more than yourself, and it’s appreciated.
