[UPDATE: Dixie Didn’t Survive the Fire] Older Mare Lost During the Fire Evacuations; Has Anyone Seen Her?

When flames were coming towards the little community of Three Forks, Crystal Fuller’s parents were told to evacuate immediately, fire was coming up over the ridge and threatening their home. Their mustang, Dixie Chick, who was adopted 19 years ago from BLM by Crystal’s mom was nowhere to be found.

“Dixie went missing the morning the Hopkins fire blew up in Three Forks and wiped out the community,” Crystal told us. “My folks had not seen Dixie for breakfast. She did not return to the barn for breakfast or to be loaded for evacuation. Please keep in mind my family had less that 15 [minutes to get out]. They’ve lost everything… Unfortunately we have not seen or found Dixie. We’ve returned to the house/barn site and have others checking as well. We know horses go long distances when spooked. We’re hope she’s plodding along with some wild cows out there.  Could you please ask folks to keep an eye out for her?”

I hope your dear Dixie will be found near water in a shaded wood. I know it’s a long shot. There is still Mercy…
