[Update 2:55 p.m.] New Fire Near Covelo

A new fire broke out this afternoon in the area of Inspiration Point south of Covelo near Hwy 162. At 2:30 p.m., the fire was about a half acre in size and spotting ahead.

It appears to have originated from a wreck that occurred several days ago, according to scanner traffic.

Please remember that information gathered from initial reports is subject to revision as more facts become available.

Update 2:41 p.m.: According to scanner traffic, some resources are being cancelled indicating that firefighters are comfortable they will be able to control the fire.

UPDATE 2:43 p.m.: Another spot was located.

UPDATE 2:55 p.m.: More resources are being released from the fire and Hwy 162 which was closed is now being re-opened to one way controlled traffic.
