Reinforcements Arriving! Firetrucks From Texas in SoHum

Texans rolled into Garberville this morning. SoHum resident Luis Ruiz found them buying supplies at the Ray’s store at the south end of town.

Welcome! Thanks for coming to help, folks.

THey don’t blame climate change for all these fires like Newsome either. They show up. Newsome probably has issues lighting a candle by himself.

Does anyone know if there’s anyway to get the firefighters in our nearby areas drinks or snacks or?

Don’t need permission to be kind. That’s our human right.

Just walk up, reach out, and say, “here”.

Or you see them in line behind you somewhere, tell the person taking orders/money that you’ll be paying his/her tab.

When they tell you thank you is your chance to say it back. 😊

Whoa what about the covid though? I thought we weren’t supposed to have large gatherings of people, especially from out of state. Isn’t Covid more of a threat to our existence than these fires? Filling up my bath tub with hand sanitizer now…

Haha, thank you firefighters!!! Glad you are here!!

I realize this is a really complex question, but can someone explain why it is that military resources for fire suppression aren’t triggered once it’s clear that help is needed? Corvallis in Oregon is now at Level 1 evacuation, so clearly help is needed in Oregon too. I recall it is something about a Federal Act from 1932 (?) but that’s about it.

Way to go Texas Firefighters! Everyone’s Heroes. The locals are all talking about you. Just know that.
I think with most hotel/motel rooms filling up with evacuees, it would be wonderful if people with maybe quiet restful environments and extra rooms in their homes could offer places to stay for these firefighters and just call themselves a temporary bed and breakfast if they have to, then refuse to be paid…or not, whatever. Beautiful, peaceful places near Benbow, towards airport below Garberville, Lower Redway, P-Ville’s Avenue of the Giants, etc. But, don’t make these guys have to drive to Eureka to sleep on a mattress in a motel to which none of us would go. Figure out how to reach their top brass, call the firehouse where they are from and talk to their fire chief. It can happen. When we pull together in crisis with kindness, there’s nothing we can’t overcome and no need for big gov to say we can or can’t help. Keep trying to find a way. Ask to do their laundry. I hope this is the beginning of the out-of-state firefighting convoy to come. The area is beautiful all the way to the Hoopa Nation, its people, communities, and acres worthy of saving and deserve focus and attention from our president and governor.🧑‍🚒🛤👨🏽‍🚒🛤👩🏾‍🚒🌲🐿🕊🌳🌧

Isn’t that funny. I’m from Houston and have come to and have lived in shelter Cove. All you hear is Cali lib[edit] talking shit about Texas but now when someone needs help, they are there to help. Would Cali residents come help Texas if it was reversed???? Highly unlikely.

Too bad we couldn’t send you some of our rain along with our firefighters. Hope they can help get the California firefighters some much needed breaks. Thank you for the show of appreciation! All these “disasters” break down state lines real fast! Kudos to all on the front lines nationwide!
