Alderpoint Road Closed at Hwy 36 an at Upper Sawmill Road
Humboldt County Public Works has announced that “Alderpoint Road at Highway 36 and Alderpoint Road at Upper Sawmill Road are now closed.”
Map below shows the area closed. Emergency personnel are doing a “hard closure” at Hwy 36 and Alderpoint Road and for Sawmill Road and Alderpoint. (That means a complete closure but those evacuating can leave though they can not come back.)

They did this to us in jc a few years ago. Shit got crazy. Over two weeks they locked us out. Those of us who stayed back held it down for our neighbors feeding horses, goats, cats,dogs,
It got to the point where we all ran out of gas and diesel for the generators. The sheriff wasn’t letting anyone in so we got creative. Quite a few drift boats and kayaks loaded with supplies floated the trinity and saved our asses. People got caught and even arrested. Our fire crews and a few “cool” local cops also smuggled us gas in to keep gardens watered and freezers cold. It was a rough time. Many neighbors places burnt to the ground. I hope you all stay safe and are stocked up on gas and supplies because it could be a long go.
I would appreciate any possible updates from the AP area (from any source) . People I love there but I am not family and don’t want to bother them as they try to handle this difficult situation.

Not saying this fire or any of the others are caused by arson, but I think it’s more common than anyone wants to believe. If people are aware they can keep their eyes open.
I think we have a lot of copy-cat arsonists whenever a large fire or series of fires breaks out- whatever it’s caused by.
Here’s a sampling of brush and wildfire arson arrests and investigations in California alone since May 2020. This is just what made the news.. I didn’t include arsonists who “only” set structures on fire, or stupid accidents like the people that set the Creek fire with an incendiary smoke machine at a party.
In some communities in California people have formed formal “arson patrols”. They take turns watching from ridges and talk to people lighting campfires or whatever.
