California Begins Promoting Cannabis Industry in Statewide Outreach Campaign Called ‘This is California Cannabis’
On Tuesday, California’s Department of Food and Agriculture opened a statewide cannabis education program–“This is California Cannabis“–to promote the industry.
“CDFA is committed to the success of our state’s commercial cannabis cultivators,” said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross in a press release. “‘This is California Cannabis’ celebrates the passion and hard work of licensed cannabis growers and highlights how we’re all working together to protect and promote the health, safety and quality of the industry.”
According to the press release,
CDFA’s CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing Division is managing the campaign, which profiles the wide range of licensed California cannabis farmers, from legacy outdoor farms in rural Humboldt to high-tech, vertically-integrated operations in urban locations. “This is California Cannabis” will feature comprehensive outreach and education efforts, including community events and workshops to highlight the technical assistance and support that is available year-round to licensed growers and new applicants seeking commercial cannabis cultivation licensure. “We’re proud of California’s vibrant cannabis cultivator community,” said Richard Parrott, director of CDFA’s CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing Division. “California is known for growing the best cannabis in the world and our licensed cultivators are leading the way with innovative practices and environmental sustainability.” California cultivators who are interested in seeking a license can begin the application process online at calcannabis.cdfa.ca.gov or by contacting a licensing specialist by calling toll-free 1-833-CALGROW (1-833-225-4769) or sending an email to [email protected]. CDFA provides year-round support and technical assistance, including updated services for commercial cultivators during the pandemic. your tax dollars at work
Your tax dollars enhanced by legal industry paying local and State taxes. Wow, who knew?

They forgot the part about murder, home invasion, Covid down on the farm, illegal aliens abounding, cartels and so much more. Did I mention murder?
Exactly and not to mention they are promoting smoking, which I thought it was bad to inhale any kind of smoke?
People don’t HAVE to smoke it. Cannabis can be consumed in many forms other than inhalation. Edibles, tinctures, topicals, sublinguals EVEN BEVERAGES.
General public need a serious education about natural substance use, the negative stigma is unbearable.
You can eat a lolly pop and get high who said u have to smoke it. They have candies , tincture, butters , cookies and any thing else u can think of.
This is ripe for satire.
That’s right, banned, they forgot to mention that humboldt isn’t even in the top 40 county watch list for covid, we’re only slightly above the state average in murder, below the state average in robbery ,missing people stats are negligible, and if there’s so many illegal aliens where are they? So hum is like the only place in California that doesn’t have a Mexican food store. Gville is like super white. Cartel is fringe at best. This county could clean up, but the false narrative you trolls try to promote just ain’t real. I know , hank banned you so you came here to stir shit up but we’re not buying. Maybe try a Mendocino blog, they’re on the covid watch list..
Folks just wanna get high, 99% of them could care less how it was produced and under what conditions .The unicorn mentality is what hurts the industry.
And if traditional Free Market dynamics are ever allowed, the Black Market price will go into the toilet.
Yep most folks don’t care. Same with alcohol, most don’t give a damn about artisinal craft brewed beer and delicately fermented wines. They just wanna get drunk. Eliot Ness is rolling in his grave…but with a flask of hooch tucked in his 3 piece suite.
We’re all smart enough to know it’s the over indulging, uneducated, criminal baffoons that add to Cannabis’ negative stigma. But seriously, prison sentencing for possession of Weed is beyond ridiculous. It’s a fvckin PLANT!!!
Yeah, thousands of acres of Spectacular, rich, California oak woodland converted to monoculture (grapes) and who cares? How much water is consumed? Who cares? Viticulture and oenology are sciences dedicated to growing wine grapes and producing quality wine. See, juicers are particular and sophisticated unlike stoners who just wanna get high. Don’t get me started on various liquors and myriad concoctions.
Cfda makes it easier!!!! Lol.
Not what everyone else has been SAYING who’s gone through the permit process. Stop lying and selling out your neighbors and community. Face it you’re a sellout and a government bootlicker/snitch !!!! Alot of us didn’t have 300to 500 k laying around to give to the RIP off county,so now they March around daily with fish and game ripping everyone off with made up environmental fines. No matter how you slice it there JUST RIP OFFS !!!!!
Doing a joint should not be a crime, it’s what Willie Nelson fought so hard to protect with his touching songs.
Even Jerry Garcia knows that weed ain’t no bad thang
Er, Jerry Garcia has been deceased, mostly due to his heroin habit (can I get a “gateway drugs amen?”, since 1995.
I understand that Willie Nelson is having trouble breathing…
Smoking dope will get you nowhere, but some of the places it leads can kill you…
Marijuana, Alcohol, Prescription Drugs and Hard Drugs like Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Heroin, all belong in a class of toxic substances that should always be avoided. The state allows it, because the state wants its whack.
The end.
Heroin is not healthy and neither is inhaling too much marijuana, but Willie Nelson is 87…hardly an example of how marijuana will kill you quickly.
And hardly an example of ‘weed will get you nowhere’, being an internationally known artist and songwriter.
Plenty of successful artists were/are heroin addicts, that doesn’t mean everybody should start shooting up.
True enough. Lots of musicians, writers and actors have descended into alcoholism, burned out on speed or became acid causualties. On the other hand, substances have inspired and driven tons of well-known creations. Rolling Stones, Beatles, Clapton, all the old blues guys and most of country music has been driven by one thing or another. What was Shakespeare smoking?
***ACTUALLY ASKING GENUINE QUESTION…NOT TROLLING***
@screwed sideways. Have the substances you mentioned negatively influenced you personally, or someone you know? I hope not, but I’ve seen the decline of promise and future in my former highschool peers when they started smoking. Then again, THEY didn’t have much ambition to BEGIN with before weed. Pretty sad. *HOWEVER, it helped me focus in my later 20’s like a mutha! So it worked for me. Natural substances, not over counters. I don’t think marijuana is a “gateway drug” in every individual human case.
We’re all smart enough to know it’s the over indulging, uneducated, criminal baffoons that add to Cannabis’ negative stigma. But seriously, prison sentencing for possession of Weed is beyond ridiculous. It’s a fvckin PLANT!!!
Jerry Garcia was allegedly a serious diabetic with very poor health habits in general.
I told Althea I was feeling lost
Lacking in some direction
Althea told me upon scrutiny
My back might need protection
I told Althea that treachery
Was tearing me limb from limb
Althea told me: now cool down boy
Settle back easy Jim
[Verse]
You may be Saturday’s child all grown
Moving with a pinch of grace
You may be a clown in the burying ground
Or just another pretty face
You may be the fate of Ophelia
Sleeping and perchance to dream
Honest to the point of recklessness
Self centered to the extreme
Ain’t nobody messing with you but you
Your friends are getting most concerned
Loose with the truth
Maybe it’s your fire
But baby…don’t get burned
When the smoke has cleared, she said
That’s what she said to me
You’re going to want a bed to lay your head
And a little sympathy
There are things you can replace
And others you cannot
The time has come to weigh those things
This space is getting hot
You know this space is getting hot
you forgot the last verse;
cant talk to you without talking to me
we are guilty of the same old thing
talking alot about less and less
and forgetting the love we bring
You both forgot “i told althes i was a roving sign. I was born to be a bachelor. Althea told me ok thats fine. Now im trying to catch her…” What any of this has to do with the article is beyond me.
I wish they’d spend the money they’re spending on this campaign on extra staffing instead, or even just lower their fees. We waited 5 months to have our license application processed, then it took all of two weeks for them to review and approve it because it was a comprehensive and complete application out of the gate. I recently submitted a revision to the property and premises diagrams to adjust the border of my premises boundary, basically just moving a line from one place to other without changing anything about the cultivation activities at all. Not only did it take months upon months to get the revision approved, the person who was reviewing the amendment went through every state and county document on file for my farm and even sent CDFA inspectors out to inspect. Other farms in my area have yet to be inspected. It was apparent that the person reviewing the amendment application was looking for all and anything to catch me out on, which of course didn’t happen. It took way more of my time than it should have and caused me quite a bit of stress. Watching that sweet little promo video just makes me mad.
read Huxley’s “Brave New World”, and ask yourself afterwards what the purpose of Soma was.

Still terrorizing backyard growers though. I am one, a few plants, a greenhouse. Medicine for an old lady and a few friends who cannot grow. 40 years on, still live with fear.
The cops aren’t going after your small backyard grow. Most of these busts are pretty big. 6 seed plants should get you through the year easily.
1 Cannabis is not native to North America, so there is no California Cannabis.
2 Pot grown in warehouses and giant structures by people in lab coats. That’s down home.
3 The same state that spent the past forty-odd years raiding growers is now all lovey-dovey when it’s time to hand their legacy over to corporate Big Ag? Good thing weed helps with nausea-I think I need some now.
🙌👏👆
The local billboards say that the human brain continues to develop into the 25th year. In my opinion, if cannabis consumption really does result in arrested-development which impedes our youth, health education should be at least as prominent as promotion in this or any State-funded campaign!
You can google “Kentucky Bourbon” like I just did and find out that the industry is worth “hundreds of millions” of dollars and is promoted world-wide. all that for a very dangerous, violence-inducing drug. Follow the money. Sure, I’ll take a sip now and then. Funny how folks tend to categorize their drugs, their religion, their people as unique and better than all others.
Oh, wait, weed is better if the effects of black market insanity and complex licensing, high taxes and fees can be overcome. State help now will help make up for decades of persecution and help us avoid being left in the dust by CO or OR.
Sooooo. Last time I checked, legal cannabis can’t be shared outside the state. And if that’s still correct, what is the purpose of promoting CA Cannabis?
Promoting Humboldt artisanal product, or organically grown, or Mom and Pop pot, all makes sense. Just wondering why they didn’t create campaigns to promote those instead/ in addition.
Maybe Jeff Bezos or John Boehner or some other political tool trademarked the name “California Cannabis”, and they are hoping to corner the market if it all goes national.
Oklahoma has 2,200 cannabis dispensaries. Yes. Oklahoma. California has about 600 licensed ones. Get your facts first.
